The fact joker knew batman would go after Rachel so intentionally gives him the opposite addresses for them both. Bruuutal.
@Kayoss13212
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I feel like this was also a sick test in a person’s principal by the Joker. I feel like you could only beat this Jokers game if you maybe stick to your selfless compass. If Batman had been selfless and gone after Harvey, then he could’ve saved Rachel. If the people in the boats didn’t stick to being selfless, then the remote that they would’ve pressed for opposite boat may have been for theirs (some people have theorized that the remotes that the two boats had were really a tigger for their own bomb. Not a trigger to blow up the other boat.)
@dongilleo9743
3 жыл бұрын
The two addresses the Joker gives are 250 52nd Street, a number that's the same read forwards and backwards, and Avenue "X", something crossed, mixed around or switched. Both are subtle clues that the Joker is lying about who's where. Even if had Batman had guessed that the Joker was switching the locations of Rachael and Harvey, he was still in the position of having to choose one to die in order to save the other one. The Joker had figured out that Batman had feelings for Rachael, so he knew Batman would try to rescue her. If Batman figured out the locations were switched and saved Rachael, then Harvey(Gotham's White Knight) would die. Instead, because of the switched locations, Batman saves Harvey, who the Joker wants to live so he can corrupt him and turn him into a villain. Ether way, the Joker wins, Batman loses.

Fun fact, the licking of the lips was not really an intentional thing initially. It was done out of necessity. The prosthetics used would often come loose when he talked and licking his lips would help keep them down. I had also read though that the make up also made his mouth dry and licking his lips would help. Either way in the end it really did serve as one of those little quirks of the character.

Something from Gordon's "A Dark Knight" monologue at the end that hits home for me is when he says "Because he can take it." You'll often suffer, or at least risk, hardship or loss for doing the right thing, and so the people who will step up and actually do it are the ones who can stand that loss or hardship. I'm the black sheep of my family, but when my mother was dying, I was the only one who didn't turn away from the strain of being with her every day taking care of her when she was out of her mind from Alzheimer's, gasping for breath, in agony and wasting away from lung cancer.

@@chrissmith6097 Fiction has to ring true otherwise it comes across like a Steven Seagal kicking everybody's ass in his recent movie fights but being slow and looking like he can barely move anymore. It just makes audience roll their eyes. I was pointing out that Gordon's line rings true because it has a realistic point, and I used a real life example to illustrate that the point is realistic and that the point is not just theoretical. The fact that the example was one I experienced myself shows that it's firsthand knowledge rather than just hearsay. The books "Hero With A Thousand Faces" and "The Power of Myth" are all about how, from classic mythology to current popular fiction, the "hero's journey" continues to resonate with people because it is a metaphor for the challenges, fears, hardships and sacrifices that everyone has to deal with in life. The fictional heroes that endure and sometimes even become a cultural icons do so because they and their struggles, their triumphs and even their failings symbolize things that have real meaning to enough of the real people in the audience to make their names household words.

The bank across the street was the old Chicago Central Post Office which has been closed for many years. In the comic books, Metropolis and Gotham are their own cities. Both are vaguely defined as northeastern cities across the harbor from each other. Neither is a comic book replacement for NYC or Chicago because all 4 exist in the DC Universe. often, people fail to realise that Joker actually won. no "power of friendship" or love or righteousness or other plot armor shenanigans played part on the outcome like most movies do. No, it was the "good guys" telling lies to everyone. Joker make them break. made them forfeit their ideals by deceiving the public and lie about Dent. I like that the fake Batman asks "What's the difference between you and me?" as Batman's being lowered into his custom bleeding-tech high-speed super-agile urban assault tank. The best recasting transition, I think, was in Iron Man 2, when they (spoilers?) made Don Cheadle the new Rhodey. His first lines are, "Yeah, it's me. Deal with it". Re: the "gun in the courtroom" scene. They say it got in because it's "plastic" or whatever. Hugh Laurie, the actor who played Dr. House, wrote a very fun comedic spy thriller novel called "The Gun Seller". In it, he describes why it would still be hard to get such guns through metal detectors, as follows (paraphrase); "the gun might be plastic, but it's hard to pass-off the casings of the 17 rounds in the magazine as lipstick refills". Re: the Joker and truth. The Joker says he's a man of his word, and as far as I can tell, he is. I think the only time he lies in the movie is when he reverses the addresses. The guy who plays the gangster Joker helps, uh, "smile" had a great story about shooting that initial "mob meeting" scene. I think it was one of his first bigger roles, and he was nervous. He said Ledger was amazingly professional and supportive. One day, they were shooting his "meeting" scenes, and Ledger was there, bright and early, in full make-up and everything. They started going a little long, so, naturally, "gangster" dude asked when they were going to have time to shoot the reverse shots for the scene, the ones that would actually have Ledger in them. Nolan told him they weren't doing those that day. Ledger, one of the big stars, was there, in full costume and make-up, solely to help the more minor characters get the best reaction and interplay for shots Ledger wasn't even going to appear in. Other stars would've let someone else just stand-in for them and read the lines, but Heath not only showed-up and offered tips and suggestions, but also spent the time in the chair and wore the uncomfortable makeup and prosthetics simply to support his fellow actors, as minor as their parts might be. Professionalism. RIP to a real one.

So, all that's left now is to watch Joker. Joker is the reason The Dark Knight is only my 2nd favorite movie ever. My 3rd is Terminator 2 - Judgement Day, it has a 1st film Terminator just like these batman series, obviously you should watch that one too and start season 5 of GoT😉.

This took place about a year after the first movie. So Rachel and Harvey hadn't been together a real long time.

Joker won, he made the people of Gotham believe that their greatest hero became their greatest villain. Bruce knew it the moment he saw what Joker did to Dent and from there, he tried to save him because with Dent dead, the prisoners that the police force in Gotham captured all would’ve been released so he had no choice but to say that he killed Dent, overall Joker won but for his big grand finale, Joker wanted Bruce to kill him because he would’ve gone against his principle, his moral code, his one rule, to not kill and if he were to have killed him then it comes to a realisation that he and the Joker are the same.

I forget if this is why, but I thought Reese was trying to go on air to reveal Batman so that the Joker would stop killing people. Maybe that isn't why I'm not 100%.

Lol okay what other superhero movies do they use the quote “Die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”?? Cause this is the only one. Don’t know what homeboy is talking about🤷♂️

Gotham City is like Chicago and Superman's city, the Metropolis is more like New York.
