The potion from the swooping evil makes you forget BAD memories. The people in the city only have bad memories from magic because of all the destruction they saw. Jacob however saw a lot of amazing stuff, so the bad parts he forgets like saying goodbye... But not Newt and Queenie and all the beasts. His memories are not complete so he's confused but draws inspiration for his pasteries from them none the less. I know it's all a bit more confusing than HP but I still really liked it. From the Deathly Hallows (Malfoy Manor chapter): "[...] he could feel Voldemort flying through the sky from far away, over a dark and stormy sea, and soon he would be close enough to Apparate to them [...]" So apparently there's some unknown range. I don't think any more detail is given in any of the books. J K Rowling tweeted a response to this exact question about why Newt took a boat (linked in the Apparition wiki page): "There's a limit to how far you can Apparate. @Mr. Al Why bring Tolkien into this? Rowling wrote amazing books that so many children, teens and adults have enjoyed. This video is about Rowling. She's not your favourite? That's okay. Don't comment on this video with attempted drags at her. She has achieved so much more at 54 than Tolkien had at that age. I've read his books, and I didn't like them. The premise was ridiculous, the boyband and their adventures were boring and the whole story was just simplistic and superficial. I finished the series just on principle, because I never stop reading a book or a series halfway through unless they're really horrendous or offensive. However, whatever my opinion of the books and the author is, I don't go offering it around unless my opinion is warranted. You probably don't agree with me. That's completely okay. I'm just writing down my opinion on Tolkien to prove a point. which is: unless the topic of the video or conversations calls for it, don't give your input on topics that aren't relevant.
@Sipu97

@kahurikuul They probably compared Rowling to Tolkien because Tolkien is widely acknowledged as the father of modern fantasy literature. I find your reading of the story as "superficial" extremely hilarious, but then again it's your opinion. I prefer Jackson's films to the books (don't tell anyone), because Tolkien's writing style is quite heavy sometimes as he describes so much. Still, it's truly amazing how much he has created and brought back. // Edit: also, Tolkien and Rowling lived in pretty different circumstances so saying how Rowling has achieved so much more is something to be debated. But I'm not saying all this to hate on Rowling, just pointing out. Both are great writers and we have much to be grateful for.

@@kahurikuul To be fair, a LOT of the stuff Rowling uses in her series was basically invented by Tolkien. So it's a fair comparison. People are going to argue over whether the next film, Crimes of Grindelwald, is better or worse. I don't know how I feel in regards to that but I will say it's a much darker, more aggressive and probably violent story than any of the Potters, save Deathly Hallows (and even then...). Brace yourself, because whatever its problems are, it does not hold back. Also, I think most of the charm loss is because these stories are about adults in a much more grim period (post-WWI, roughly Great Depression and pre-WWII), whereas with Potter we saw the wonder of enchantment of the Wizarding World through the eyes of an 11-year-old and gradually saw it get darker and more contextualized.

Americans didn't attend the Triwizard torment probably because they are so shut off from the rest of the world, Britain Wizarding World is inclusive and you can see the levels of paranoia with the american ministry for magic regarding muggles. I think that Jacob loved magic so much and was so accepting, plus is friendship with Newt and love for Queenie was so powerful that although he was obliviated something remained that he couldn't explain but it was there, also in book four we get an explanation that an obliviated person can actually start remembering things if too exposed to what they are supposed to forget or to a strong emotion relating to it. I did love this movie, all the secrecy, paranoia, the dubious morality of the lady with those poor kids, honestly it all portraits many of the bad things happening nowadays and i love the creatures, one thing i did not like was the Grindenwald look, it wasn't necessary to make him look so weird, he was known for being a very good looking man, very attractive and that look is just ... weird. Also, Newt gave the bird an obliviating potion that he flew to the clouds and released, which in turn obliviated their memories by rain. :) I also feel it was a bit far fetch when you consider how much area that would have to cover. :)

Dumbledore and Snape also didn't always need to cast the spell to use Legilimensy. In 5, when Harry shouts at Snape "He's got Padfoot" or something in Umbridge's office, he hopes that Snape would 'read his mind' and know what's going on. It is also implied, I think, in retrospect, that when Dumbledore asked Riddle and Harry "Is there something you wish to tell me about?" while gazing intently into their eyes, he was basically making them think of their secret or whatever so that he can know it because he was a powerful Legilimens.

Now do Crimes of Grindelwald! I really love your commentaries. I'd love to see you reading the Potter books and blogging your experience there because there are so many things you keep bringing up that are in the books and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Particularly Deathly Hallows. If you have the time you really should read that book before you watch Crimes of Grindelwald because the Deathly Hallows movie left out a lot of important stuff about Dumbledore's family.

@Itsrrpp The bird that Newt was trying to bring back to the USA was the Native American Thunderbird. Some Wizard stole it and brought it overseas and Newt saw it, recognized it, and was like, "I'm bringing it back to the USA." That's why it had the ability to mass distribute the mind wipe potion at the end.

You brought up, that the triwizard tournament is just between hogwarts, durmstrang and beuxbatons and why the US was not invited. It is because those three schools are near each other and kind of related because they are all in Europe. So it's like the European cup and not the world cup. There are magic schools in Africa too or for example in brasil if I remember correctly. I think in total there are 16 schools. So it could be, that the US school had such a tournamen with schools that are nearby and not as far away as the European schools

Great reaction as always man!! I felt like these movies were very rushed! Especially because they are divided in 5 movies in the series. They could've taken their time with it! HP was better because it was adapted from the books where FBAWTFT was just a screen play!

Durmstrang, beauxbaton, and hogwarts are very old schools, they aleady established the triwizard tournament (centuries old) much older then Ilvermorney. Ilvermorney is only 300 ish old..... the triwizard was established around 700 years old. Not only that but Ilvermorney was established by a descendant of Slytherin, who wasn't a pureblood fanatic.... and the name Ilvermorney was originally the name of the manor(much like Malfoy Manor), of the descendant's childhoods home... If you want to hear more I recommend watching MovieFlame's video on Ilvermorney aling with the one on all the other schools. (sorry if this is hard to read and process, I usually don't write so formally.)

You should check out the book of Fantastic Beasts. It's not related to the plot of the movie at all - rather, it's the textbook that Newt is writing during the movie. As far as I know, there are two versions: the original, which was published when the HP books were still being written and has funny annotations from Harry&Co., and the re-release, which was made to include a couple of extra creatures from the movie and has an audiobook version read by Eddie Redmayne.

In the books it's explained how apperating is extremely unpleasant and dangerous if you are not paying attention to what you are doing so most wizards prefer other means of transportation. I'm not sure about this but i think they say in the books that the triwizard tournament is a exclusive to european wizarding schools. Btw if you have not seen them already please react to the lord of the rings, hunger games and x-men.

Heyyy 😊 very nice as always! Yeah I agree with you. I did enjoy the Fantastic Beast movie(s) and think they really capture that Harry Potter feeling and the atmosphere of the wizarding world but ofc they are not as fantastic and iconic/ nostalgic as the Harry Potter main series! But I think that it’s a really interesting thing to explain what was before the time of the boy who lived and Voldemort and how certain things developed. And I also think that especially in the next movie it connects even more to the Harry Potter series in different ways!.. So far they said the prequel series is going to contain 5 movies and I really think it has a lot of potential to become even more better!! See you next time!😊

At first everyone thought the memory potion changed the papers and David Yates or Heyman had made a second mistake. In deathly hallows part one when Hermione obliviates her parents the photos disappeared. But here the wizards above ground just fixed everything including the papers. They also forgot most things unless they cast impervious on themselves before. The 🧪 only removes bad memories

@@Bjjbhcoa86 idk, theseus was a little flat for me. he has potential if they keep him for future movies but in this one, he was kind of... one-dimensional, maybe? I'm not sure. but leta... leta bugged me a lot. and not exactly her character but the fact that she is a lestrange. i just couldn't ignore all the questions i had because of that. i like the fact that the lestrange character fell on the side of "good" but the ending of the film creates plot holes for me. and maybe some of it gets resolved in the next movies. i do hope it will but as it stands I'm not exactly on board with this storyline. not the character itself. but the storyline. the big reveal of the family in the end. (plus, she also suffered from "this is not the main character so we don't have time to built on her more" thing)

I really like more HP than FB but to be honest one is my childhood and i basically love also a lot more the books than the movies. Some ideas for future content I would like to see in the channel after the next video is posted: - A Harry Potter books review, one per book of course not necessarily now just when you want,. i'm sure you could enjoy them as much as the movies or maybe even more, in them Rowling expand and explain quite a bit things than in the movies were cut. - For other movie content maybe other sagas that have action and some fantasy to it that you haven't watched yet that's why i don't recomend because probably most of maybe even everything i could recomend is probable that you already watched it. - Other great option is Anime Like: One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or Shingeki No Kyojin. Maybe Death Note that is shorter is good to start or Slam Dunk if you like basketball.
