The way henry talks about kathleens brother being a great man I have a feeling that kathleens brother allowed himself to be turned in by henry so he could get the medicine. Also since kathleen said her brother said to not hurt henry and to forgive him

Hi, I'm a MoCap performer and gotta say The Naughty Dog has always had an amazing team of cutscene writers and directors. These showrunners really did a justice to the video game. Also wanted to share a painful story of mine about the new Resident Evil Remakes. In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part... Now, many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such a chance. In this business one audition can change your entire life.

What made their deaths even more tragic than in the game is not JUST that Sam is deaf, it's that they were also more innocent. In the game they've both killed to survive, but in the show neither Henry nor Sam had ever killed anyone directly. So Henry's first kill being his baby brother was even heavier on him.

I think Joel was right about it being easier for kids. But I think for Ellie she kinda became a protector this episode. She kinda tried to protect Sam and failed when she couldn’t cure him.

The fact that Sam is deaf and when he turned he was facing the window and just stayed dormant instead of attacking Ellie was such a great tough like so many other things. Gasoline being less effective. Joel´s hearing being injured from shooting. Henry involving Sam in most of the dialogue. I can go on...

So many things that are said in this episode are quite prophetic for the end of the game, and events/themes of Part II.
This may be a weird opinion and if it is triggering I'm sorry. I really don't mean it to be. I feel like this is the opposite end of the spectrum than Bill and Frank's ending. At the core the end result is the same. Bill was the protector and decided he wouldn't go on when Frank made his decision. Bill and Frank both chose their deaths and went out on their own terms. Henry was the protector. Henry un-aliving Sam and himself however comes from failure, shock, and unimaginable sorrow and grief washing over him in a matter of seconds. I've said this before. I believe Pedro and Bella both deserve Emmys. But all the actors have played their roles phenomenally. This continues throughout the series to the end.

When you said I’d rather be on my own because of the pressure. I felt that. I know what I’m capable of and what I need to do for me to survive. But I honestly don’t think I’d make this far because I would’ve died in the beginning tryin to protect my people

Y'all know how Henry blamed Joel superficially in the game. I'm really happy in the show that Henry blamed himself. Very nice to see that they took their second time around in building this story seriously!

I mean if you turned on me and got my family member killed I can’t say I wouldn’t torture you to death if I got my hands on you in this world. I’d be conflicted if I knew it was for your dying brother but I can’t say whether or not my understanding of his situation would outweigh my grief and anger

Ya honestly I would be out for revenge at all costs also. But not to the point of wanting to kill the kid and strangers just for being with him. I get the Henry hate from her perspective though to be fair.
@robeson1070

@@GlennShook I dunno. killing the older brother would basically be killing the younger one in this world. I mean, who would look out for him? Is there even anybody else who knows sign? Revenge in a world like that where blood for blood turns everybody into monsters, infected or not just doesn't help. I think it would have most wise to banish the collaborators or have them do the dangerous job of clearing out the remain tunnels to earn a chance at freedom. I'm sure if they had bothered to inspect the tunnels quietly they would have figured out that they needed to string them with explosives or something. Kathleen let her nearsightedness kill everybody, ultimately. I would know that my own family would want me to think rationally if somebody came along and did that to them. Like Tess said -- save who you can save.
@Carrietbean

@Allen Iverson No, i wouldn't kill Sam either, but if I was Kathleen, I would fail to see why the hell Henry thought his brother was more important than mine. On the other hand, I'm not sure I wouldn't do something like that to keep my brother alive if he were sick. It's a tough one but I get Kathleen for sure.

If Henry hadn't betrayed his people to save his brother, Sam would have lived longer with leukemia. The attempt to save his brother at other people's expense has in fact shortened his life. And Kathleen was right in this case, you don't fuck with fate.
