Good video man. I leave in 9 days for basic and then going to shepard afb for water and fuels maintenance. the people at meps ended up talking me into doing 6 years but my goal for the air force isn’t really about the benefits even though there is a lot but rather making it a career. I also wanted to do security forces but ended up just barely failing the hearing test due to mild hearing loss which never in my life would i have thought i had hearing problems. I am excited even though it didn’t work out as i planned it would.

Erin Freund I was in the infantry so living conditions wasn’t all that great lol. Plus I wanted better opportunities thst the army couldn’t give me but the AF could. Also the duty stations are better in my opinion.

Hey I’m currently a civilian cop looking to join the air national guard I just finished MEPS and I can choose between water & fuel systems or fire protection. Has water & fuel systems helped you in the civilian world? Perhaps by fixing your own problems or maybe even getting some extra cash fixing other peoples problems? Because I’m leaning towards fire protection because I find it cool but it wouldn’t benefit me at all in the real world

Go for Water and Fuel Systems maintenance if it's your heart to transfer to the civilian world. You'll definitely be ahead of most people if you attend a plumbing school after your contract. Fire Protection is dope too but you are working 24 hour shifts and the job can get really boring outside of training. Very few fires on base but there'll be some medical calls. If you're in it for the cool title Fire Protection is it.

The job is transferable to an extent. If you're doing 20+ years you'll be a pro. You wont learn enough if you do 4 or 6 years and leave. Though you'll be ahead of the game if you transfer to a plumbing trade school.
