I know for finishing an acrylic painting with water based cold wax (and add bit of acrylic if you want to finish w a wax glaze) I know that if you buff a thin layer of it it adds depth, like waxing a car, and then after that dried you can do another another layer for even better effect. Do you know if you can buff each layer as you go in a painting an get more depth? Or is that just for finishing your painting?

It is better to do this only when you don't want to make any more changes to your work, because polishing the wax closes the molecules which makes it difficult for subsequent layers to adhere properly.

Late to the party :)) question.. do you paint on top of the cold Acrylic wax? I have tried the Power Wax, it took quite a long time to dry completely… which was fine, it had a nice sheen to it in the end :)

I did a painting where I painted on top of the acrylic/water based painting with oils and cold wax medium and that worked perfectly!

I love the line effect. The paint transfer, I guess it would depend. It may be like working with Pastels. Pressure has everything to do with what you're wanting, and maybe we should still consider "Fat over Lean?" I'd love to know. The more I look at my vase with flowers, the more discounted I am. I'm not like most Artists. I usually like what I create, could be that I know no better, yet this piece just erks me. I believe that fixing what I don't like is imperative, and this will take effort because I don't remember what I used color wise. Thank my lucky stars that I'm fairly intuitive when it comes to color mixing, and besides I own your class "Color Mixing Bootcamp," the name may be incorrect but the intent is the same.

A happy and creative year to you too ! If you are not happy about the flowers, you will have to continue till you are! It happens to me too, even months after I thought the piece was completely finished I can change it completely (and most of the time it will come out better!) looking forward to seeing how the flower painting changed! 🌼🌼

I don't understand the acrylics one. Because all of those effects can be very easily achieved without the cold wax medium!

It's all different. The Acrylic Mediums can , could, may give the effects you speak of, but the Wax experience is just that, a Wax experience. It's mainly Matte, I'm very versed in Mediums, and yes, there are Matte Mediums for Acrylic paints as well, but again the Artist is looking for the Cold Wax experience. It wouldn't be debatable, if an Acrylic Artist didn't want the effects of Cold Wax; hence, the Acrylic audience has asked for it, and the Acrylic Companies, wanting to fill those needs has worked hard to replicate a Medium that creates the same effect. Acrylic drys fast. On the other hand, Oil paint doesn't, but the Cold Wax Medium allows it to do so while sustaining the ability to continue working with IT within the painting process. Acrylic Mediums dry quickly as well, yet I've noticed that the drying time is slower with the Wax Medium and Oil; thus, the result in and of itself, gives the Artist the ability to achieve the effects of an Artist working with Oil and Cold Wax. Many Artists want to stay true to the Medium they're used to working with (be it money or conviction), and don't want the extra expense of buying yet more supplies. They may want an extra medium in their Toolbox, and that can't be bad, if you can imagine the possibilities. It's totally awesome that you know your stuff, and I have to cummed you for your knowledge because it's spot on in many ways just like mine. I so want to get this Cold Wax experience down. Ahhh, I'm looking at so much more there, like composition and ability when I get down to it. There's my hurdle Ability, but I'm willing to be generous with patience. All and all, I'm thinking we'll go far. Happy New Year!
