We left Agnes Water, not before one last morning surf - that ended up with Kye getting 3 stitches near his right eye (the leg rope sling shot his board back at him). We were very luck to get into the local medical centre where the doctor stitched Kye up and sent us on our way.
We drove to Yeppoon* where we were told by a local guy about the big public swimming pool right on the foreshore... with free hot showers. We woke up the next day. did some exercise then head out into the Byfield National Park. Upper Stoney Creek was such a scenic drive too, with a nice swimming hole and even camp ground.
Our goal was to make it to Mackay, where we spent a few days bunkering down whilst the big weather system, that hit the entire QLD coastline, passed. We had the absolute pleasure of staying with our best friend Kelly's parents Mel and Julie! We took this as some down time, spending 5 nights being spoilt by the Holden family, thanks again guys!
A lot of people told us there's not much to do around Mackay, but we found some of the most beautiful waterfalls, water holes and beaches this part of Queensland has to offer. DO not skip the Mackay region on your travels.
After a few days of recharging, we were back on the road heading north again. See you in the next one, where we will be showing your through our little home on wheels.
