Luke. Just another idea, you can try this on a few pockets if you wish, use a a small stick on both sides out in front of your pockets, to the left and right, right beside your trap. And you let me know what you think, you will catch more mink and coon. Try it for yourself, just friendly advise, when I started doing that, my mink and coon catch went up much more. Try this on a few sets thursday when you set, and judge that for yourself. All my sets get guide sicks. Just more friendly advise, from me you. Give it a try, there are many things that will make you even better, I just wanted to help, great seeing you in the water.

As a non-Trapper myself, I’m strictly a KZitem Trapper due to my age and inability to walk. I was wondering why you would trap water raccoons. I would sooner have a dry raccoon to take home and a soaking wet one. Maybe I’m missing something if you could help me out young man, I would appreciate it. As far as the rest of your. videos girl I have nothing but praise for you. You appear to be a super young man you present yourself well you speak properly maybe I can introduce you to my daughter. Anyways, stay safe may God bless you. ✌️🇨🇦

The reason guys trap raccoons in the water is because the population is higher around water sources. Many creeks with bridges have the potential to yield 20-25 raccoon per bridge where a dryland trail may only produce 3-4.

@@nextgentrapper1000 OK now I see thank you very much for your response to my question. I would still sooner carry home three or four dry raccoons, then five or six wet ones. Stay safe and God bless. ✌️🇨🇦

The iced over conditions have to suck. We’re lucky here in my part of North Carolina because that rarely ever happens except maybe some shallow ponds a couple times a year if that. Hopefully as it warms up over the next few days it will make up for it there. Really enjoying your videos buddy. Even the iced over ones. God bless and have an awesome night.

noticed something interesting in your video on creeks most of coon were this yrs young happens alot on creeks dont ask me why maybe food easier to find i would like to buy one of those steel bars and how you made hole last i saw something like that was at bud halls but that is definitly cadilac never ceases to amaze me how younger guys have very good ideas thanks

The reason I’ve came to understand is that younger raccoon are raised in the creeks because that is where they are thought how to hunt for food and as they age and get bigger they head towards the hills and eat bigger things like corn, birds, etc

It seems that if you just keep a coon wet long enough it dispatches them

For the one gut that said water trapping does not take some skills, ice is one of the skills that you can still use to your advantage, get all those broken pieces of ice out of the way infront of your pocket, if you leave the pieces it will freeze back in no time, also set pockets on south facing bank ahead of time, that bank will get more sunlight, and keep the water open for just a few hours longer after sundown, there are any things you can do to optimize your sets as water gets cold, you will be all froze in, in the morning, get anopen area out in front of your pockets tomorrow, it will stay above freezing tomorrow night. Just a couple tips if you want Luke

@@nextgentrapper1000 yes, a South facing bank will give you more time before it freezes, while preparing staking next time, always may your pockets in this location, more time equals more coon. On your east and west creeks. Use the south facing bank, which will be the north side of the creek bank, I faces south. Give that a try tomorrow, and you will see for yourself, good luck Luke
