Nitunze Project was an Integrated Child Survival Project for marginalised communities implemented by Save the Children in Turkana North and Mathare slums in
Nairobi. One Key components of the project is Health Save the Children supported in training 250 community volunteers on Integrated Community Case Management and 197 on Community Health Unit Saving & Loans Associations.
By training the community health volunteers on ICCM, it helps in service delivery at the community level where they can identify and treat children under five with common childhood illnesses.
Other Key components are ECD Centres, Village Savings and Loaning Association (VSLA) under Food
Security and Livelihoods (FSL). This involved women who have come together for the purpose of economic empowerment from Mathare urban informal settlement and Turkana North.
