Oh this is perfect timing! Lately I‘ve felt so drawn to colors in general. I‘ve been playing around with eyeshadow a lot, but I want to play around with something more permanent🐥

You know makeup and painting share way more in common than you would think 😉 Excited for you in your more “permanent” adventures… have fun!!

Thank you for sharing your experiences, with paper! I am anxious to try Boahung paper. I have always used Arches, but would like to try other 10:49 brands. Thanks for sharing! Karen Dirmish, learner

I got started not long ago with some Artists Loft store brand cold press in a spiralbound book, but even though it's heavy, it seems to dry up (or buckle) before I have much time to play with big washes. When I'm through that sketchbook (I figure, practice is practice even if I'm fighting the paper a bit) I will try the Academy paper. Thank you for this explanation :)

I was actually stunned when I bought the Academy watercolor paper. I use it for all my practice projects and just play. On commission pieces I use Arches. I agree with your recommendations

Margot . . thank you for videos. I love them. Could you tell me if the papers have any sealants during the process of being made. I have tested positive for allergies to chemicals that are used for lots and lots of products including paper products. Methylisothiazolinone allergy, and Kathon CG (combination methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone). My hand dermatitis is out of control now. Thank you for your help. Keep up your wonderful KZitem channel!!!❤❤❤❤

The only best paper is Waterford , full cotton, seized on all sides and inside. Your paintings will look suddenly wonderfully . And you can do everything with this paper. It can be made very wet and the colors get not weak, like on Arches. All brands of watercolour look double beautiful on this paper of highest quality. Try it, or you never have seen your paintings in their best impression.

Arches paper is also sold on Amazon both in pads and blocks. Another paper to consider is Canson Heritage which is a wonderful 100% cotton paper;however, it too is quite pricey.

I’ve tried Cansin drawing papers before but never the watercolor version. How does it compare to Arches?

I’ve also recently found the Canson Heritage paper, I really love it, probably as much as as Arches. The Canson XL I think it is, the entry level mid blue color one I don’t like at all. I think I don’t like it because it doesn’t have the texture I love. The Canson Heritage is a buttery soft paper that also has a good texture, I’m surprised I love it as much as as I do considering I really love Arches Rough, and cold pressed. I believe Heritage has become my new paper.
