Nia ... thank you so much for the tour. I love to take a peek into other artists sketchbooks. I knew you were a fabulous artist, but your portraits of people and figures are amazing. You are very gifted and I thank you for sharing your talent with the KZitem community. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up next from you. I would personally love landscape tutorials. Best to you in 2019. Cheers!

Hi Lori, thanks! I'm not too confident with my portraits and figures yet... I still need a lot of practice, before I can be a bit more comfortable with it. But thank you so much for your constant support. I haven't tried to paint many watercolor landscapes, but I can try to practice it more :D Hope you have a great year ahead in 2019!

It was curious seeing the Moleskine, like you said it was all over the place and the quality is jumpy (but still very good throughout!), although like the case of the galaxies it's really nice to see the improvement basically side-by-side. Ahh, the infamous Fabriano sketchbook. I don't know if you remember but I said it worked better with Ecoline in an older video. I wish to amend that statement: It does, but it's not worth the frustration. I use it for brush lettering now LOL because of it's smoothness and relative durability compared to normal marker paper. Love your food illustration as usual - I spot some from your Skill share classes in the third sketchbook. It's curious to see how you've changed your style, if I'm not mistaken I can spot two or three hair shading styles and the food illustrations seems to change as you flip through them - less white pen highlights, more vibrant colours, Etc. EITHER WAY this was a treat to watch, definitely nice to see not all artists finish sketchbooks... I'm sure a lot of people will feel a little less guilty thanks to you.

Hi Jocellyn! Yea! The moleskine is my first watercolor sketchbook, so I was trying all sorts of styles and subject matters. Back then, I actually just started getting more into watercolours, hence the experiments. I still would like to explore, but I think I know what my favourite subjects to paint are now :p Maybe if I practice more with figure drawing, and get better at it, I'd probably like painting them more xD Ah! I totally forgot about you mentioning that it works better with Ecoline, I've yet to try it, kind of interested still because I still like the size of the sketchbook and I'd feel bad wasting the sketchbook. So hopefully that'll workout :D thanks! Yes, I'm still trying to explore the style that I like with food illustration. I would prefer to use less white pen all together, but sometimes, I don't think I've achieved enough of the highlights. And I'm always trying to explore with colours and shading, incorporating different hues instead of just using black for shadows :p I still haven't mastered food illustration yet haha but part of the fun is actually the experimenting and the experience.

Loved seeing all your work Nia. I had no idea you were so good at drawing and painting people. You had some really beautiful figures in your sketch books. You should do some more of those so you won't get rusty sketching figures. Even though, it would be hard for me to follow along as I can hardly sketch at all. I had never done art except in junior high art class, and now I am a grandmother of five, and I just started learning watercolor painting last year.

Thank you so much! I still have so much difficulty painting figures and I still practice them from time to time, but because I know how difficult it is, I never want to turn it into a tutorial on this channel. There's so much fundamental behind the shapes and movement that I wouldn't be able to mention in such a short tutorial >

You can do it! Just go slow, start with just basic brush control and don't focus too much on the outcome but what you've learnt from the painting :) The difference between a professional and an amateur is the fact that the professional has most probably failed more than the amateur has even tried and even now I still can't call myself a professional artist because I know I have so many weak points that I need to improve in my art :) You can do it! Keep painting :D
