I just found your channel, this video was recommended in my feed. I don’t typically comment on the first video I watch of someone. But I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed and appreciate your teaching style!! It was straight forward, easy to follow, not too fast & not too slow, recommendation of products without trying to sell me anything, etc. I’m extremely new to watercolors and honestly only started as something to try out and to use in various ways to incorporate into my Junk Journals I create. Therefore, I have cheap paints, brushes that aren’t quite “watercolor” brushes, and rather cheap paper too. However, I enjoy it far more than I initially expected and find it therapeutic, regardless of the fact I have no idea what I’m doing. 😆 Now I’m wanting to learn & absorb as much as possible and this video was extremely helpful! One question for you, being such a newbie at watercolors and I’m on an extremely fixed low budget, do you recommend I stick with my supplies for now and invest when my skills have progressed? Or should I maybe start with buying few good brushes and stick with my current paints and papers? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I’m always hearing other Artists say that the supplies are important (especially the paper and brushes) even for beginners and I can definitely see that I need better paints and brushes. Thank you so much for your time and sharing your wonderful gift with us! ❤😘

Im so glad that you found me too! And, my teaching st yle is working for you. I have been obsessed with watercolors for 50+ years its all I know. Love that you are giving them a go! I would definately buy one brush, a good one, a princeton round 8, it is a basic brush not too expensive and will last for years if taken care of (protect that tip) And then a decent paper, I have tried SO MANY over the years for my workshops and students, as you hear me talk about I Love the Artisto pads, they are thick, great texture, and hold up to water pretty well. The apints would be the last thing I invest in. Again, you most likely hear me talk about the MieLiangs, which I personally paint with daily because I cannot afford to paint with WN daily. Do lots of wamr ups, brushstroke practice daily or as much as you have time for. You will begin to develop the msucle memory and moreconfiednce, practice the washes and watercontrol, which comes with familiarity and just an ability to feel it through practice. If you go to my playlists you will see lots of tutorials on these things, I cant say enough how these practices will help you and in no time you will be better and better! Im so happy to have you here. Happy painting friend! Let me know if I can help with anything.

Wow 😍 this is divine Deb~ and I can look at the petals in a couple different ways too! Like the ones in front are darker which makes sense to me. Then I can look at it again and the pedals somehow look like they are folding in or out ! Am I seeing that right? If not, then yay for me cuz that's what I see ! Awesome! Thank you showing us this technique and how to do this~ I don't have a mop brush yet! I've been looking and researching on a good one that's multi use! I want to be able to do other things with the brush too. I don't even know what a all-around size to get. It's like I've noticed different companies have , for example, a size 8 .... and they don't look the same size. Or even near the same size close to one another! I don't get it lol! Reminds me of clothing sizes from different manufacturers 😂 BTW, I've used so much greenery colors that my Mei Lange palette in the sap and olive green has gotten way down in the pans 😂 So funny how I've used those to death. 😜 🤣🎨 I'd be scraping the bottom pretty soon! Lol Thanks teach ❤️✝️🙏🏻

Hi! First, the greens in your MielLiang palette~ Mine too! and my yellows almost gone. Second, yes brushes are completely different depending on the manufacturer, so strange isnt it. Why can't a round 8 be the same across the board?? The mop brush I really dont use a lot, its a great brush though for washes, backgrounds, water and really wet on wet techniques. I typically will use my Princeton Neptune series, 12 round, its quite large and can soak up and lay down loads of water. (I dont usually use the Netpune because it is so soft and soaks up so much water!) Princeton Neptune 12 round amzn.to/3EcFKVo Lastly, I love that you see different things when you look at the painting. Thats what I love to hear. If you paint somewhat loose, leave interesting white spaces, everyone fills in those areas with their own imagination. Ive paintind pieces before and had them hanging in a studio or boutique, and people will all have their own thought about what I painted, the mood, what I intended. I love it. Happy painting, I hope you give this one a try., these transluscent petals are always fun~

Hi Grace, You are so very welcome. Here is my tutorial I did not too long ago on a pansy. They are so cute arent they (they remind me of the animated move "Alice in Wonderland" And the pansies have little faces. Anyway, here you are my friend my pansy tutorial, kzitem.info/news/bejne/2WmE1JaDm4mEd6Asi=tqmYoUpgox_MCnNx Your words mean the world to me, as one of the reasons I love teaching and sharing watercolors is for their beautiful soft, flowing and relaxing feel. Happy painting my friend. Blessing to you You made my evening

I’m drawn to the colors in view on your palette!! They’re beautiful. Are those granulating colors?

I didn’t create a drawing for this one because it was a bit simpler. If you would like, I can sketch it out and send to you. My email is Debbiewalkerart@gmail.com

I use a pearlwing typically because i like the size and eraser for drawing Pearl wing pencil amzn.to/3OVHpDP Kneaded eraser amzn.to/3QXnabn I also use a kneaded eraser to go over my entire pencil I will send you this drawing free, if you email me at debbiewalkerart@gmail.com or the little 5.00 companion kit. bityl.co/Kovz I tend to draw a bit darker for the tutorials so you can see the lines. (although this one was indeed a bit lighter) I hope that helps. Have fun!

Are the papers made of cotton? And are the Meilang paints considered student or artist grade?
@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
10 ай бұрын
Good morning the Meeden paper is 100% cotton the Artisto it’s not but shockingly (and I’ve used so many) Artisto is a wonderful quality student grade paper, very thick and textured and what I using on my workshops now. I love their paper and it’s what I predominantly paint on. I would say the MieLiang is a student grade, although for myself, they are a fabulous creamy vibrant pigment. I love them. It’s what I paint on daily. If I’m doing something professionally, I would use my Winsor newton’s.

What pencil and eraser do you use?
@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
Ай бұрын
I use a few, my favorite is the Blackwing with a replaceable eraser otherwise I end up with lots of pencils and no eraser. amzn.to/3RSMe2Y I also use a kneaded eraser for lightening all of the lines on my drawing a larger area. amzn.to/3RWMwWD Both great and last a long time! I hope that helps, you can also see all of my supplies in my Amazon shop. Happy painting friend, amz.run/7TFF

Hi! This is the Artisto paper, I paint so much daily, I cannot afford to paint with Arches daily. I have tried so many student grade paints and found this one to be the best quality, I also use in my workshops. I hope you give them a try, (Im not affiliated with them) Artisto pads amzn.to/3N6RcaP Artisto 9x12 amzn.to/3Ep3JAY Happy painting!

Love the technique and end result for the petals. Only disappointed in the choice of paints… I can’t morally or ethically purchase products from countries which abuse human right when there are so so many alternatives and very affordable alternative. I’m now focusing on Rósa Gallery (Ukraine), Roman Szmal (Poland) and occasionally Daniel Smith (USA) and refuse to purchase Paul Rubens, Meeden, Meiliang, Bauhong, White Night (russian) products etc. Even Windsor & Newton Cotman paints are now manufactured in China apparently but having used quality Rósa Gallery & Roman Szmal professional paints for some time now, I wouldn’t waste my time or money on W&N now regardless of budget or origin. Definitely wouldn’t recommend them for beginners.
