This is lovely! Did you mention what kind of sketchbook you are using? I know that some papers hold up better to removing the masking fluid than others, so I wanted to check.

Hi….it is a Bockingford 140 lb not surface . I use that a lot and also Saunders Waterford and have never had problems with those two. I have also used masking on cartridge paper ! I could be wrong but when it comes to watercolour paper I think you can run into problems using masking and painting on it in general if it is old ….use new everything 😀👍

Very helpful. After using masking fluid in the past and getting frustrated, I may give it a go again with better quality supplies as you suggest. It IS important how you "paint" with it! There were always unnatural marks left after "blobbing" it on with my cheap gummed-up brush. Lol.

Very nice. I tried the tip of having a glass soapy water to rinse my brush in while working and it did very well. I did wonder how dipping my brush back into the masking fluid might alter the fluid after a while? Does that make sense?

It does make sense….. I wipe the brush lightly on a tissue before reusing it and should have mentioned that.
