The Pickardstown ambush took place in Tramore, Co Waterford on the 7th January 1921. It was the largest military engagement of the War of Independence in East Waterford. 2 IRA volunteers were killed Michael McGrath from Poleberry and Thomas O'Brien from Dunhill. This ballad is written and performed by Kevin O'Donoghue and is Waterfords entry to the Battle of the Ballads fundraising initiative which aims to raise funds for commemorative projects in the Munster area.
