have the exact same 335, finish and all (factory stamped in 1997). I remember at the time it being difficult deciding on this or a Les Paul, and it took quite a few hrs. of playing both in shop on different amps to decide. Glad i stuck with the 335

I don't think there is much of a tone difference between the two to lust after either one. I'm more of a synth guy anyway.I got what looks like an under-the-bed-stored '89 Les Paul standard with the Lawrence pups and it is a tone and quality far better than my playing justifies. It's got an unremarkable plain three-piece top that has some slight figuring and things that make it unique to that instrument, but is nothing to write home about....but it's MINE. @@rodnyg7952

I have both a 2000 ES 335 and a 1993 Les Paul Studio with the legendary ebony fretboard. Both are fantastic guitars but I play the 335 almost exclusively.

I have a 1963 335 which I bought in 1967, in NZ for $400. I still play today with a group of old dudes.

Thanks for your comment! I wasn't even born yet in 1967! It's a nice once-in-a-lifetime purchase to be able to buy a 335 from the 60's for $400 and still play it.

Thanks for the comment! I use D'Addario Jazz light guage round wound (12-52) strings. The amp is a Fender Twin Reverb amp simulator from HX Stomp.
