Wax instead of lubricants on chains is becoming increasingly popular in cycling. There are many benefits, including reducing wear on your cassette and saving watts by having a smooth running drivetrain.
Hayden Nosatti and the crew at Tune Cycles have been reminding the process and they now offer a chain waxing service (for ±AUD$40 - see below for website details).
We document the process - which is largely about cleaning off lubricants applied to chains at the factory, before dipping the oil-free chain into a tub of hot wax.
When done properly, expect to get 25,000km of riding out of one chain ... and significantly increase the life of your cassette, thus saving considerable money for a relatively minor investment in the workshop.
This is a workshop session at Tune Cycles from 2 December 2022.
