The garden at our specialized mental health and addiction hospital has become a sanctuary-a space where healing takes root, not just in the earth, but in the hearts of our patients.
With projects like the creation of hugelkultur beds, vermiculture, and native pollinators, we have created a thriving habitat on our grounds that supports our patients to connect with nature.
Patients are sharing their work through our Patient-led COPE program by selling bouquets and seedlings. They have also been asked to provide flower arrangements to a local public school’s graduation ceremony.
This initiative is part of a research project exploring the profound impact of green initiatives in a forensic mental health care setting.
Together, we are showing how beauty and growth can flourish.
