I'm so very sorry someone hurt you with their criticism of your work. Your work is uniquely your own. It's nothing at all like mine, which I think is what is drawing me so much towards what you do. It's so totally different. I love how free and expressive you are, and unafraid to try new ideas, and to not make a mistake. That hangs me up all the time, the fear. I feel that need of perfection constantly. I don't want to waste supplies, even though I rationally know I'm not "wasting". There's also the constant drive to get work done for shows, and it seems there isn't a lot of time left over for experimentation. I think that's why I love your channel so much. Not only are you such and outgoing, engaging person, but you push your work. I found myself taking pictures of fancy chairs the other day to try some chair paintings of my own, just because I loved yours si much. You have quite an influence on people , so please don't let one person keep you down. You're wonderful ❤

I worked for a number of years in an art gallery here in the UK and we all knew the one unspoken rule, you never criticise an artists work! People need to understand there are many forms of artwork and everyone favours different things. I absolutely love your work, it is extremely professional and sophisticated. Keep up the good work, there will always be those who lack understanding of the art world. 😁🇬🇧

Gaynor I’ve only just discovered you. First may I thank you for inviting us into your beautiful home. Don’t take note of negativity. It’s not always about what you actually paint. It goes without saying your work is exceptional and you push boundaries. The important thing is what it produces and it’s not always the material outcome. I have painted for some years but my greatest joy is working with my grandchildren and enabling them to achieve something they take pride in. My daughter and I were invited to demonstrate how to paint Van Gogh sunflowers at my granddaughter’s school, 66 ten year old students all had recognisable paintings . That’s the joy . You have already inspired me. I’m making plans and bought the materials to install shelves around my art room so I can effectively compare and alter paintings over a period of time of observation. What I think I’m trying to say is having the ability to inspire and motivate is a very great achievement and a strength. I have had ten days with Covid and your videos have eased my way through it when all I could do was watch the tv. Many thanks Jenny

Music, poetry, art, etc...all created from nothing that can be explained really. It comes from the heart, all senses and experiences which are quite intangible. Most of us tune in each week to see what you are drawing up from your inner person and painting on canvas. We love the beauty that springs from your heart...the dreamy color pallets, fresh landscapes, and dynamic floral compositions. All those natural resources give inspiration to your work. Can't imagine how the great abstract artists of the past would have put themselves out there to create before a vast audience. Yet, U do it successfully week after week. I remember seeing a video where a man looked at a Picasso and commented that his 5 years could have made that ... wow, what talent ... just hope he encouraged his child to continue in art. Art history from way back is amazingly informative. The mediums and whatever canvases ... from charcoal, chalk, on rocks, wood all show creativity. ... All creative artists, whatever the field is theater, photography, literature, visual art 🎨, has to be confident with themselves to share their works, all the while growing your skills and encouraging and inspiring others to do what it takes to improve. Jackson Pollock would have enjoyed the splatter 😂. Ann, Florida fan

I have so enjoyed discovering and following you for a while now! Watching this latest installment tonight, I was reminded of the first art/artist I ever knew. He lived up the road from us and moved away by the mid 1950s, probably before I was 8 or 9. He had converted one of the huge chicken coops his parents had into a very modern home. He was a police photographer but he was also a mosaic artist and, I believe, a painter, and had made several small mosaic pools on the property. Back in the 1950s, we kids in the neighborhood would wander from house to house, not necessarily to play with kids, since he had none, but also to investigate what was happening and to chat with the adults. He was a bit odd - afraid that kids would fall into his pools - but he fascinated me, and drove an old green Land Rover with the spare tire clamped to the top of the hood/bonnet. Who knows what things draw us into a life of creativity! Keep on trying new things! I love it!

Dear Gaynor, oh please please don’t touch your bird painting! When I just heard you say you had to deal with the bottom left side, sort of bluish, I was aghast! To me this painting is charming, simple, perfect, finished! Why do you see these areas as imperfections? So often I see the ‘modernity’ of your work in its simplistic somewhat unfinished state. This is what you seem to strive for, the modernity, but then you wipe it all away and start something else when the very beginning was so cool! Let me encourage you! You are on the right path and I salute your fresh modern style! Bravo and thankyou for these great videos! Be blessed, Mary in Arizona, USA

I find you and your work so relaxing, I too am a very sensitive soul, I know how throw away comments can go so deep for us, we don’t choose that it just is. I am a padantic painter , have to get the perspective right. I loved your laughter at the comment you were given. I am trying to let go of that I know it is holding me back. I am a new subscriber loving your personality and your work.

Gaynor…you are 🌸WONDERFUL🌸 in ALL ways! 💕 Always a JOY to watch you experiment in your videos 🤸♂️ Thank you 🙏 🙏🙏 Love your quirky portraits, bird painting and two lovely quirky vases and white lined flowers! ❤️LOVED the soft pastel colours in your pineapple….beautiful 🤩 Can I just say that…that blue grey colour of your alliums I think, brings your painting down, adds element of drab. To me that colour just doesn’t fit right…. but hey you can now prove me wrong lol 😂 The alliums could do with more space in them….splodges look too heavy. Maybe you could make a stamp and create them out of that…might be fun😃 Well done with your exhibition!!! Cannot believe people are coming from America to see you and buy paintings….That is AWESOME!! So pleased for you 🤩 Gaynor do you think you will do a day’s workshop? I would so ‘LOVE’ to come to one, if you do. Have a lovely week and remember you are loved by thousands of people Whoo Hoo 🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️

Gaynor, I do not know why people feel so disinhibited on the internet. Some folks mistake criticism for feedback. I think if one posts a negative comment they should follow it with a positive one. Anyhow, your work is fun and delightful. I always feel refreshed after watching your videos and listening to your comments.

I wanted to thank you for sharing your work and painting methods. I wanted to share that I, like you need several glasses for different uses, and last year I invested in bifocals that also have a mid section, so I have far, mid and close up vision all in one pair. It's amazing! Ot takes a bit to get use to but it's well worth it.

HI Gaynor, Im alaways checking for your next vlog. Almost cant wait! Loving your pops of vibrant green and yellow with lilacs and light blue hues. I find it makes a painting more interesting. Your bird painting maybe could do with some balance in the left corner. I would maybe pop some lovely yellow and white daisies to add some interest and kèep it looking very summery with the apricot and greens. Loving the bold purple flowers in your paper bag painting,. I do think adding small blocks of contrasting colours is the way to go, to break up the areas, so it doesn't become too busy. Its hard sometimes to get the energy going in a painting, but when you find it, it's a great feeling. Really loving watching how many paintings you are juggling at a time. I can hardly stick to one, let alone 3 or 4.😊 Best luck, Jo😊

I agree that rude comments are usually the speakers own jealousy and insecurities. We don’t all like the same things which is fine but one doesn’t have to be rude and negative. For sensitive people it can linger and be hurtful. Even when a piece isn’t my cup of tea I keep quiet or I find the positive to speak about. I don’t want to hurt someone brave enough to put their work out there.

You are so right with your thoughts about criticism. I love you work and your videos and they give me so much inspiration. I wanted to ask you, as I'm a beginner, is it important in you mind to do realistic drawings and paintings first ? before going to abstract ?
@gaynorpattle
Ай бұрын
Great Question.....I think you need to experiment and see what you like the best. For me, it is usually blind contour drawing, drawing parts of the whole, several drawings, but all with the aim of getting to know the subject better. Warm up drawing should be what you most enjoy, and a chance to make a few discoveries. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your art XX

"A bit of crit." Cute. Although getting it is far from cute. We sure do need to learn to develop thick skins when our work is in the public eye and folks feel free to say whatever they want. Speaking of which, the person who says you don't know perspective just doesn't GET your work. The loose, non-realistic style is what is so absolutely charming. I loved the drawing I watched you do of a building - the fact that perspective is totally NOT what it's about makes it so your style. Folk artists don't do perspective and their work is absolutely lovely! I LOVE your pineapple painting - and I do understand you may want to do more work on it. I would have loved to see you doing that. I keep being tickled by our similarities... I get a box of fruits and veggies monthly and a friend picked it up for me this week. She told me there was a pineapple in it, and I said "Great! Something for me to paint!" 🙂 It's getting weird, all these similarities. And I'm in Canada and you mentioned two people in Canada - so lovely one from Nova Scotia came to your show!!! I totally love that green painting, and it's "partner" with the ochre-coloured vase. So lovely. Your videos make me so happy! I'm still a long way away from making the art I long to, but I keep at it daily, and little wins are encouraging! Have a great week, Gaynor!

I am so sorry that u have had some unconstructive criticism. I sometimes think that what is said online can reflect peoples' own problems and lives that have absolutely nothing to do with your vid. it is sad that they bounce it out in thjis way. But U always strike me as, however sensitive , a confident and successful person who will as you say not be stopped by this. As i have said before i love your work and your enthusiasm. I personally feel that criticism is a very bad thing. However, critique can be a very good thing. For me personally those beautiful little landscapes I think that rather than diving right onto them I would recreate one of them and then work on that for detail to see if there needed to be changes to those or I could just be adding to that series. However, that is just me.
