Great ideas! How do you keep some of the kids from not being silly and entering other groups jamboard? I have done similar activities for breakout rooms/groups. However, there is always one or two kids being silly and moving other kids' work, deleting, and hopping on to other groups' work drawing on it. Sometimes, I can catch who it is but some days I can't see the icon to see who is doing it. I have warned them that if they are silly then no more breakouts. But I do not know if I should be doing anything else. I would love to hear your advice. :)

Thanks Lisa! That’s definitely a tricky part of Jamboard! Before they go out to breakout rooms, I set the clear expectation that if they all worked on it without any issues I would award a class point or a minute of "doodle time" on a blank jam just to get the sillies out. And, if they can't use it correctly we wouldn't be able to use Jamboard for a period of time. If it's the same students, I would have them work in a breakout room with just me until they have earned their time with their group back. My students also click the ask for help button if they know someone in their group is not participating so I can jump in. With time, the novelty wears off since we use it so much and they’re good about respecting each other’s work! I hope that helps! 🤗💕

Fantastic ideas for jamboard! Can you explain how you created the exit ticket board? How did you get the numbers to change to sticky tabs with a double click?
@TeacherFYI
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Beth!! To create the exit ticket board I click the sticky note tool and type each number individually onto the sticky note. Then when my students open the board they can just click on the note, as if they were editing the sticky note. I have some pre-made exit templates in the description if you want to try it out! 🤗

@TeacherFYI

Thank you! It works like Google Docs. You could go to the Jamboard site within the Google Suite, create a Jamboard, and share the link directly with your students! It's a Google product so they shouldn't need to create an account specifically for it. Hope that helps!

I’m a substitute teacher just returning off a leave. My good friend walked me through the basics of zoom and jam boards etc. I feel nervous though about going into my first time doing virtual substitute teaching . Just hoping I remember everything she showed me . Any words of wisdom to calm my jitters ? I’m good with computers though for things like this. I guess part of it is not knowing how teachers lesson plans will be compared to in person teaching. Any tips you have for substitute teachers working within other teachers virtual classrooms to cover them ?

Hi Janine. Thank you for sharing. One thing I want to highlight is that many teachers are feeling the weight of this year and the remote nature of education. It certainly hasn't been easy and how you're feeling is very understandable. In reality, it's ok if something goes wrong, or if you need more time to find a feature, or if the internet gets laggy or you lose connection - these are things that do happen to even the most experienced of teachers and students have come to expect them as part of distance learning. My advice here would be to trust that the students know their routine that has been set up, while also having a few backup exercises such as a collaborative game or a read aloud that you could pull out if you need to. In the meantime, leveraging your strength with computers could be a big positive should you need to steer in a different direction. If helpful, this playlist aims to share different ways and games you could pull off if needed that you could reference: kzitem.info/door/PLjvrYSjXyUBggYJj8IsmwdFoK5z1IthkA Hope that helps. You got this and I'm super excited to hear how it goes!

Thank you, Tracey! After you take a screenshot (shift/command/4 on a Mac) it'll save to your computer. Then on the Jamboard page click the "add image" button and upload the screenshot file by clicking "select files from your device". I hope that helps! 🤗

Good tutorial....I can't paste an image onto my jamboard, been trying many ways for many days now, I've tried to drag and browse files onto the jamboard, but won't paste! Can you help me please?
@TeacherFYI
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! On Jamboard it's not possible to copy and paste images unless the image is already on one of the slides. To add image: Click the add image icon on the left and upload/search for an image. Once you see the one you want click insert and it should show up on the slide. Once it has been added on the slide you can copy and paste the same image. I hope that helps! Here is my full Jamboard tutorial: kzitem.info/news/bejne/ypCY3HqckpeWp6Q

@@TeacherFYI ....thanks, actually I found out if you try to upload a Microsoft worksheet or whatever, it doesn't work. Microsoft as most other formats even PDF doesn't work, it only works on photos or images downloaded from the internet. I know how to click on the image and download onto jamboard, but it's certain formats that don't work on jamboard I think it's Google protection they don't like Microsoft. P.S, if I click a Microsoft file that has the Office logo on it, and drag it onto jamboard all that happens is you can see it downloading onto jamboard, but in the end it stays blank. I'm going to and fro adding more to this post I've watched your jamboard tutorial yes taking a screenshot and making it into an image that solves the problem. Student can use the jamboard text box to insert onto the image, so I can get them to answer because normally an image you can't do nothing to it, but with Jamboard's text box you can use that to insert or be next to the questions at the end of the questions outside the image with answers.

Do you have suggestions on how to use it for math? Specifically long division.
@TeacherFYI
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tara! I mainly use it as a simple whiteboard for math to model problems. The shape tool is nice to make small circular manipulatives to show grouping. I recommend sharing the Jamboard with your students so you can work on a problem together and you can see their work when solving the problem. For long division, it may help inserting graph paper as a background to help students line up each place value as they go through the steps. I hope that helps!
@tarawhalen3210

@@TeacherFYI Thank you so much. I love using graph paper as a background. In online class, we are using tables in google slides so they are used to the grid. Can you use tables in Jamboard?
@TeacherFYI
3 жыл бұрын
You can't insert tables in Jamboard as of now, but you could download the Google slide that has the table as an image and insert it as a background in Jamboard. The table would then be a locked image and your students could write/draw/add sticky notes that way!

Could I use Jamboard to do a KWL chart? If so how would I do that?
@TeacherFYI
3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! You can make one with the text boxes, but I think the best way would be to insert a KWL chart you have as an image. Jamboard just updated and you can now add images as backgrounds! I would screenshot a KWL chart you have then go up to the "set background" at the top and insert it as a background. Then, students won't be able to move it! 🤗

So how do they break out rooms access the jam board? Di I screen scare to each room?
@TeacherFYI
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, before they go to breakout rooms share the Jamboard link with them in the chat (or in Google Classroom/Seesaw). I usually make sure I have also clicked the share settings in Zoom so they can share their screen in the breakout room. If they can't share their screen it's okay, because they are all on the same Jamboard and can still work together. I hope that helps!

On your Zoom profile click settings and then under “In meeting (basic)” I have that only the host can share. Then, during a Zoom call the button that says share has an arrow next to it and I change it to “multiple participants can share simultaneously” before they go out into their breakout rooms. I hope it goes smoothly for you!

instead of drawing the venn diagram you could insert image and and look for a venn diagram from google images then use text to fill in information inside the venn diagram.
