Why 4 locos pulling & 2 locos pushing ? Due to gradient ? One train with 1 loco pulling & 2 locos pushing, why ?

Bhor Ghat section is a gradient of 27 KMs. Descending trains need extra locos at front for braking purpose and extra locos at rear to push(bank) the train.
