For this machine, look @14:11 for reference, the taffy should only be on the 3 arms on the right, and with the taffy firmly wrapped/molded around the outer 2 arms before you start the machine. This begins the stretching immediately, instead of across 4 arms flips the taffy first before any arms stretch whatever is left on still

Hello guys! Chuy (chew) here from Upland Ca. I was trying decode your letters from the machine and what i was able to find out was that your candy puller looks like a “HILDRETH CANDY PILLING MACHINE “ made in the early/mid 1900’s. By the looks of your machine, it looks like the previous owners probably did a few jobs or replacements parts on it. That is why you’re missing the bottom part covers and the logo on one of the arms on your machine. Hopefully this helps.

There are some other videos out on KZitem with taffy pullers. I think the problem is the batch was too small. Not enough to stick to the tines. You may need a triple batch based on the size of that machine. And that creates new problems I imagine.

Hello, fun vid! Just wanted to let you know that the WD-40 is not a substitute for grease on the moving parts of the machine. You can use the WD-40 to remove old grease and clean the parts, but if you want to protect the machine you still need to add grease after the fact since WD-40 is not a lubricant, but rather a degreaser and water displacer.

A COUPLE SUGGESTIONS AND QUESTIONS (humidity meter should measure store areas) How much to include an air dehumidifier ... since you close Sunday, could a bunch of room dehumidifiers running 30-36 hours remove water to make a difference? if candy making table is up against a continuous wall separating your store from hair salon AND DOES NOT TURN UNTIL THE PARKING BEHIND THE BUILDING then hair salon is a 2,000 SqFt rectangle and the rest of building (i assume all yours) is about 4,500 SqFt.... so needs 6x 800SqFt dehumidifiers i see a 145 pint machine rated at 800SqFt at $1565 so under $10,000 for a portable solution that should retain 50% of value should you need to sell. NOTE: units selling for 130% cost is better than 200% efficient (a 1.05k$ vs a 1.4k$ for 24 pint vs 52 pint machine) do you due diligence though, i saw apparent same machine just different brand (likely same manufacturer like china often does) at 25% discount

This may have been figured out or pointed out by someone else but it seems to me one of the taffy pulling hooks on each side are in the wrong position. I hope I can explain this. Each time a hook is going to contact taffy that is being pulled the hook needs to be in the position so the taffy lands on the bottom or inside the "hook". there is a hook on each side that each time the taffy hits it, it slides off the outside of the hook instead of into the hook where it can be held straight to be pulled. So on each arm one hook needs to be up and one down. Right now they are both up depending on how you look at it. one side is able to hook the taffy in place and the other it just slides off the hook sideways. FWIW. Good luck. Looks like a great machine.
