It's a sound of a funeral song. Sad song! Kun Khmer or Muay Thai match song is also originated from funeral song because you could die from the fighting. Just a little of the history 😊

I think imposing Western beliefs without really understanding how hard their lives are misses the point of your traveling to foreign countries. Are you traveling to impose your views or accept differences? I would wait and observe and learn before passing judgement.

Saigon was part of the Khmer in the 50 the French just feel like give to Vietnam that why the South Vietnam have a lot of food like Cambodia.
@kosmo1001

Or it could be that Vietnamese foods are similar to Cambodian food. That part of the world used to be part of Cambodia and Champa way before Vietnam even existed. Just look at their respective alphabets (ancient Sanskrit vs French adaptations)

Black and white tents, funerals, there used to be a lady in the market at the bottom of pub street that would change the dollars that were ripped or stained, i think that your 50 dollar note,you might get 40 dollars.
@franclyspeaking

We now know not to get excited by it! I went there one time and got a 100 changed into pretty much the exact change, I think she took like $1 to change into riel. Now we just head into the ABA bank straight after withdrawing and break down 1-2 $100 notes for free into smaller USD’s that are alot easier to break in shops.
