We got rid of our credit cards long ago and ONLY do things like Klarna pay in 4, PayPal pay in 4, Sezzle Pay in 4... etc. NO Interest is accumulated with these pay in 4 options. That is how it should be.

I completely agree that spending time with your children when they're young is so important. I believe that children are raised, for the most part, by the time they start school. If the foundation has been put there, they will turn out just fine. I started my homestead at 59 having a steel building and a steel garage erected. It wasn't until I completely retired that a began building my house. It's been three years but I'm almost completed. I contracted out the HVAC and the cabinets and countertops. I did everything else by myself. When I finish the house, I will make a few repairs on my mortgaged house, sell it and be completely debt free.

Congratulations. This is a huge milestone. Becoming debt free including the house was a goal for my wife and I since we bought out first house. After a couple of moves, after we bought our third house, we worked relentlessly to pay the house off. Now that we have, live looks, smells, and taste differently. Congrats!!!

@@copperdeserthomestead just so you know I didn't imply that you guys are not on the same page but if you happen to do this again I think it would help others to understand what's involved in homesteading and it is imperative that both of you or any two people be on the same page.

The next number that you need to figure out is how much money you can make without having to pay state or federal taxes. That is a specific number of hours in a year, after that number you're just working to pay state and federal taxes so it's really not worth it.

Hate to break this to you, but you are not debt free. Your share of the $31 trillion federal debt is about $90,000 each (or about $450,000 for your family of 5). And if you think that someone else is going to pay that, think again. It will be paid by you via inflation. Inflation is a tax, and just in the past 3 years, that tax increase was 20%.
@ks1allegrezza

inflation is such a big deal. Hopefully these guys won’t feel it as much though as they start producing more for themselves and become more self-reliant instead of buying at stores and such.

@@ks1allegrezza Absolutely. Those who own a lot of assets which appreciate (the wealthy) and those who are self sufficient are least affected by inflation.

We moved to Denver 3 years ago and were just shocked at the price of a home. We spent $680K for a TINY house. We can shockingly sell for over 800K. This is INSANE! How can young married families afford this? We just love living here but holy moly it's expensive.

Good for you! I have seen others follow a similar path and what it always takes is a LOT of hard work when you are young. You managed to improve and upgrade your homes while juggling outside work as well as having small children, and now your debt freedom is the reward of all that hard work. And you are happy to take on a lot more hard work to come as you build the homestead, getting creative in how to make do. Such a good example for us all!

My wife and I have worked at it for a decade longer and while we still have a small mortgage we own everything else adn are able to save lots of cash. We are about to fly north in a week or 2 and start looking at some properties to find a homestead and cant wait to be without mortgage as well! Nice work and thanks for the video!
