I love that Bowser is "big and scary" enough to other people that he gets put on a lead when there's strangers visiting, but also actually so incredibly gentle and sweet that he won't step over cords or use his head to push his doggy door open. Truly the best boy in all the world!! 😍🥰

My dog was the same with the dog door at first too. He would only go through it if we lifted it for him. I think he was scared of the big “heavy” door because it close on his tail or something and he didn’t like stepping over the high step over.

The thing with Bowser not liking beds and preferring your armchair and blankets might have to do with scent sharing. He prefers to sit on places that smell like you and wants to mingle his own scent to create a common "pack" scent.

Cats are the similar, and fabrics are good scent soakers. So that makes sense (I'm not a dog owner, so not ofay with dog behaviour). But with a cat I'd put a worn hoodie or item of clothing on the new pet bed to encourage them to use it and mask the wierd new smell it has 😊 I wonder if that would work with dogs 🤔🤷♀️

My best friend at the time, gentleman that he was, offered to throw it over the hedge for me since I didn't want to kill it (but it obviously couldn't stay). I worm compost as well! I have a countertop storage container with a carbon filter to help with the smell from the kitchen scraps until I can take them out to the bin. You can also just pop your scraps in the freezer until you set it up. Also for your clothes take your favorite items to a tailor! Way cheaper than buying all new (and more environmentally friendly) and you can keep the oversized look without them falling off.

Hahah the dirt patch 🤣🤣🤣 Tip for the climers: if a plant really is thriving in a spot you weren't prepared it to grow at, you can manually kinda guide it where you want. So you could get a long stick or few and attatch it on it with some plant clips or a piece of rope that's designed to tie plants with (don't know what it's called in english but it's rope that's covered with tar). Then when the plant grows you can keep guiding it where you want. Always remember to leave enough room though and not tie the plant too tight

Broadbeans can stay where they are just give them each their own stake. They don't climb as much as need support (also the new shoots of broadbeans are a great salad or stirfry green) your carrots might grow but they are super easy to grow from seed in loose soil so next time just scatter seeds in the same place. Raspberries will lose leaves and need cutting down by at least a third in winter so they keep growing. Raspberries will spread easily so if you make a patch in the garden for it you can have a whole plot of them easily. Garden looks awesome!

I grew up with Chows (I've had 5) and while they can ABSOLUTELY be the sweetest and most loving puppers...I've seen a couple of mine in the past flip a switch and act completely out of character around someone they get bad vibes from. It can get scary! They are fiercely loyal and if they feel like their people/themselves/their home is in danger they will not stand for it. They are big ol'fluff balls and I love them dearly but dont let that fool you. They absolutely have the ability to hurt someone. Side note...Deli has proven very clearly she has done her research before getting Bowser and she has taken steps to make sure he is well socialized which is huge for Chows. I'm sure she knows all about this and takes very good care of Bowsy.

Maybe for your trips you could invest in a greenhouse with a digital water timer that way your plants are watered why you change places and just adjust it during the seasons for the plants water needs and find a good nourish mulch. I’m doing myself heaps of research on greenhouses and what plants to sow etc mostly due to the fact of how ridiculous food price’s are. Also when it comes to fruit trees etc sometimes it can take 4 to 7 years to fruit. Also the raspberry tree and olive tree would mostly thrive in the ground and just put some wind protection around it and let the roots stabilise into the ground. There’s also some great gardening videos from some actual farmers like TheKiwiGrower which have been really helpful in my own research and he might have tips for your raspberries. I know it’s only like a small medium size yard but with a green house and shelving plus what you sow in your pallets seasonally and with great benefiting bug care and other gardening things like pairing your plants with other benefit plants in between your going to have a good harvest until over time it expands. The best place for planting what ever fruit trees you plant I would say are bestowed if possible where there’s no underground pipes out front and the backline plus it gives bowsey some more shade for his majestic dirt bed moments. I would place the greenhouse and compost tubs probably by the shed and buy your own little gardening shed of great quality for $$ price. Welcome to the hard work and greatness of beginners gardening Deli and James :)

I’ve been starting a garden this year too! Stacked vertical planters have been a game changer for me when it comes to keeping off bugs. They just have less opportunity to hop on because there’s less surface area. But also, I’ve been watching the Gardening Channel with James Prigioni and he takes his little dog with him while he harvests his (food forest) garden, and his dog digs dirt patches and sits in them to stay cool. I think Bowser might be doing that if it’s hot out!

Rasberries does drop the leafs in te fall, at least it does up here in Sweden but you might just want to plant your rasberries in a free land where the roots can go wild :D Tip for the carrots, you can pre-plant your seeds in early spring indoors and then you plant them outside when the warmth is starting to become solid. Here the preplanting would be in like April in special "Baby plant soil" and then planted out in the garden in May. I think your garden is looking very inviting and nice! Well done you!!!

I used to work for an organic certification company in NZ so I know a little bit about compost and soil (but these products were not my area of expertise). The reason you won't see them as 'certified organic' is because necessary components like Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium are "natural" but not "organic". The slight difference in definition goes back to chemical properties where "organic" chemistry primarily includes Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. This means that inputs, like fertiliser, won't meet the criteria to get certified as organic. However, they may still be okay for use in organic agriculture. In NZ, there is a category that products can get certified 'for use in organic agriculture' which means the way it was made and the ingredients used are aligned with the organic principles. I think the main certifier in Aus is ACO - so you should be able to look at their list of "approved inputs" to see which products are aligned to your chosen method of gardening. I hope this helps! There's a huge rabbit hole you can go down when learning about natural/ organic products, but for a home gardener I hope it is a good start :)

Raspberries are interesting. Some varieties (like the heritage) will bear fruit on the cane the first year it grows from the soil, and it will fruit again on the second year. After that the cane is spent and will need to be cut away. But it should send up new canes from the roots every spring. I’m in the US so we are just getting into our raspberry season. Your raspberry is likely dormant for your winter and come spring you should notice new canes sprouting up from the soil. I would probably consider moving it into the ground or at least a larger raised bed because the full size varieties aren’t really suited for pots and it may suffer. Oh and more about their growing habits- there are also varieties that only fruit on canes during their second year. So they’ll sprout out in the spring and grow on through summer, then go dormant in winter, and that following spring/summer the two year old canes produce their flowers and berries. While that is happening it sprouts new first year canes. So it’s like a nonstop cycle. But like I said above heritage raspberries fruit on first and second year canes.

I don't know if baggy jeans are cool or not, but I know I appreciate a pair when I'm bloated and cramping, and can't get away with just wearing sweat pants. Always handy to keep a pair around.

I know you said you don't feel comfortable in that top, and I completely respect that. I just want you to know how beautiful you are and I 100% believe you have nothing to worry about. I know my words don't suddenly make you feel more comfortable, but it never hurts to hear it from someone. ❤️❤️

Hi Deli :) broad beans don't really need anything to grow up. they will just need a little support. What I do at my allotment is put four bamboo sticks around my patch of broad beans and then tie string around the sticks so if the broad beans fall at all they'll only fall a little and rest onto the string. Try doing it at a few different heights. Hope this helps! I'm jealous of your wormery!

Love this vlog! Clothes' odor? Same here, mine came from very old drawers. So I try to let air in to get rid of the smell, or wash them in packs.

My first thought was that Bowser was not going to fit through the door, but he fit through with no issues. Starting my day with a Deli vlog is the best. I can't wait to see the rest of the renovation.

I feel like Bowser understands everything that is said to him. My dog is not very smart and pretty much everything you say to him he’ll look at you like “what the hell are you talking about? I have no idea what you are saying” but bowser just has such a wise look. It seems like he knows exactly what everything means. He seems like he just has such a great understanding of the world.

Aw this is so sweet! We try to talk to him a lot and let him see how things work - ie when we moved we wanted him to see the removalists put furniture in the van, then unpack it at the new place so he could see it. I think a lot of people would send their dog somewhere while they move so it’s easier to manage. Little things like this help cause they do understand a lot more than we think 😀👏🏼

Also my dad said if you really need to communicate with a dog you look them in the eyes at their level and speak clearly and usually they will get the vibe it’s important or to be ready for something or accept a change :)

@@Delidiary you obviously look after Bowser so well! He’s lucky to have you. We try to do the same sort of thing for my dog but he’s small and likes to get in everyone’s way so sometimes he has to watch from in the garden or watch from inside if something is happening in the garden.

When you said that Bowser kept going back in when you send him out, it made me imagine a confused Bowser being like «wait, why aren’t you joining me outside? I will come back and get you!» 🥺

Oooh this makes me so excited for when my house sale gets finalised! Can't wait to do all the little jobs Also heads up as someone who is also highly lactose intolerant - goats cheese isn't lactose free it's just easier for our stomachs to tolerate because of the lower lactose levels. Not advised to eat too much in one go!
