Can't help but respect the Captain that shared his very last cigar with his men. The scene of them pulling the Pak through a raging blizzard says so much about the lot of the common ground pounder.

This movie is a classic. More people should watch it. But sadly it's wrong to humanize the man in the Wehrmacht according to the mainstream media.

@@nigelk4447 Is this true? I mean on both accounts. Humanizing individuals within the Wehrmacht might be acceptable in some circles, but in my experience most will look at you funny or outright accuse you of nazi sympathies. For the Red Army it's slightly different. First, the soviet's own propaganda was very much this collectivist view a lot of the time, although positive heroism at least half reversed that trend. Maybe it's just that CoH2, and what few other depictions of the red army I can recall, didn't give me that impression. They got a lot of stuff stereotypical and/or wrong, but dehumanizing the red soldiers isn't one of them. Depicting the red army as a ruthless and inhumane organization who's command gave no regard to human lives, even those of their own soldiers? Sure. Depicting that as anything but a horrific indictment of the Red Army and USSR as a whole? No, not even once.

I think a lot of Americans are pretty uncultured and associate Germany with WW2, but I think if most of them watched this movie it'd be clear to them that the movie is not glorifying WW2.

The Nazi- German Soldier must of had some reservations about the Soviet Union Campaign , but had to keep their thoughts to themselves. This shows the insanely of war!

They definitely did, for one Russia's massive, a German soldier said you could march for miles and miles and you'd still feel as if you were in the same spot, and even though they were in a poor state from Stalin's purges, and retreating, no matter how many Russians they killed, there were always more.
