I had the opportunity to test drive the Fisker yesterday. I was surprised to see Fisker at a meetup at the Smithfield outlet mall in NC. The model I drove had a sticker price of about 73K. I really enjoyed the car although I wasn't blown away. I don't think I'm going to buy one yet as I have some concerns. First of all, it's way overpriced. I could go out tomorrow and buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for less than 50K and it's a nicer car. The electric cars in general are way out of line in their cost structure, Secondly---and this is the primary reason I'm waiting---I have concerns that Fisker will even survive. They're not selling or producing a lot of cars at this point. Their stock is down to about .75 cents a share. They have very little cash and without an infusion they won't survive. So, if I go out and buy a Fisker it's highly likely that they won't exist in two or three years. So, where would I get parts or service if needed? I'm certainly interested but I'm waiting for a while.
@billbixler8534

I ordered one, but I didn't order things like the solar roof which is expensive and has very low output. It came in about 63K. That is less than an Audi, BMW or Mercedes. It is a beautifully built and designed SUV. Who puts a little dog nose window in their car! Fisker does. The design inside and out is clean and uncluttered. My test drive went great. This car is fast!
@johngarnergarner6724

@@billbixler8534 Bill, please don't misinterpret my comments. I also liked the car very much. It's beautifully designed, I just felt it was overpriced----although I'll concede that other cars in it's space are equally as pricey if not more so. But my greatest concern about Fisker is it's ability to survive. It's stock is just about worthless, trading this morning at a little over 12 Cents per share. They have halted production because they are sitting on about 4,500 units that they haven't been able to sell. And the reality for Fisker is that unless they get a big cash infusion or some sort of lifeline, they will not survive. So, it's quite likely that you have bought a car from a company that will not exist six months from now.

Fisker will never get their tech in order. I told people this would happen consistently for two years before Fisker started production, for another seven months while Fisker pretended to be in production before starting to deliver the car, and here we are. When Fisker got a billion dollars from the SPAC "merger" the company was Henrik Fisker, his wife, and seven employees. The software engineers available for Fisker to hire were the ones who could not find or keep jobs in a world of automakers desperately hiring good software engineers by the tens of thousands. Volkswagen hired 5,000 just to try to make their EV UI, and fail pretty badly. GM's latest EV also having some serious UI problems. Fisker got the guys and gals Volkswagen and GM turned away. EV startups manage to make good UIs, Lucid and Rivian and of course Tesla have done it well, but they are led by tech people, and Henrik Fisker is legacy automaker to his core. The UI lags? Well, it is better than the UI for his first startup, where owners were breaking the screen trying to get it to respond. The company that bought Fisker Automotive out of bankruptcy spent two years re-writing the UI software. Fisker shipped these cars before the UI was complete because it will never be complete.

What he had was an effort to steal IP from QuantumScape which failed and resulted in a $750,000 fine levied by the judge. No patents. Now Fisker has already sold hundreds of millions worth of Fisker stock, and has it sitting in his bank accounts, and even with the stock at eighty cents Fisker is not using his hundreds of millions from this scam company to buy stock. One of the few EVs I really like, especially for that California Mode. I used to drive like that with my dad's old Jeep Grand Wagoneer: all windows down plus tailgate window down. (We used to call it the Grand Wag'O'Fear because it tried to kill us several times after my dad died.)

I'm glad that Edmunds bought one of these things so I can learn about their experience with it. The Fisker Ocean looks good, and it's always interesting to see new products from new companies. That being said, the real question is: What normal car buyer in their right mind is spending (or planning to spend) their hard-earned money on a Fisker? $70K is a lot of money to shell out for an experiment (as is $40K, $50K etc.). I wouldn't buy a TV or a cell phone from a startup, much less a car. And yes, I know the man behind the company has been in the automotive field for years and this isn't his first rodeo, but his previous efforts have been less than successful. There is no dealer network or service support (at least for now). Probably no parts availability when service issues arise or body repairs are needed. Unproven resale value (which will likely end up being low to nonexistent). Plus, there is a better than average chance that the company won't even survive over the long haul and buyers will be left owning a $70K paperweight. Again, who are the people taking on this kind of risk and why are they doing it? Inquiring minds want to know....
@johnemden7682

You have explained yourself well. I am a risk-taker and entrepreneur. I took the chance and bought one. I am so happy I did. I expected that it would be risky to go with a new car company. But took the chance because the car is made by experts who make cars for other well-known European brands, They are experienced and have made a quality built automobile. Fisker, the brand, is going through the expected growing pains. But they are rapidly handling the bumps in the road. I love my Fisker more and more as time passes. If you are not adventuresome and are a nitpicker, or have little patience, buy an established ICE brand. If you are a bit of a risktaker, like cutting-edge technology, and are patient, then route for the underdog, and buy a Fisker!

I’ve owned my Ocean One for 2 months. First, people place way too much emphasis on the limited “boosts”. I have yet to use a single one; place the car in hyper mode, and it’s a rocket. The boost is utterly unnecessary. Second, the solar roof is not yet functional; will require a software upgrade.

4 days into driving my Ultra. Loving it so far! Was terrified about the hill rollback situation (flashbacks to driving standards) as I live in a hilly city. Went to test it late at night and had 0 rollback. Maybe there has been an update as the braking is also not having the issues described. Did have issues with the lane assist and emergency braking out errors when driving the in rain, back to no errors now that it’s dry.

Based on what?, built quality is the high end, higher than a Tesla, just like all other cars manufactured by Styer in Austria. Opion not based on data, -but false date from people who never owned one? -and everyone knows Henrik Fisker went bankrupt with Fisker automotive?, so why should the Fisker Inc. be better?, -well the fact is Henrik never owned Fisker automotive, he was only a partner, Bernhard Koehler was on of the partners, why is no one blaming him?, Henrik did not want to seek bankruptcy so he resigned from the board and left, a week later the 3 others partners filed bankruptcy. The Fisker automotive problems have nothing to do with Henrik Fisker, but fact the legend manufacture like Ford, GM and Toyota controls the supply chain and have first right to sub-supplier production, that's why so few Karmas were produced and bad luck like hurricane Sandy flooded the hole production from Finland and later the former factory they bought from GM was in worse state than Fisker Automotve knew and needed more loans, just bad karma. But don't say the Ocean is crapy, yes software is not perfect, but that is a window into the past, lasted software have solved the first reported issues, and Fisker Inc. is that car manufacture right now is fastest to release updates, and is doing to their unique business platform since they have all software in-house and do the manufacturing is out sourced. If the Ocean is crapy share the data that supports the opinion, a few negative comments from a few owners is false date and taken out contest!, and so fare the few complaints are only from the USA, and likely more related to costumers living in States that does not allowed direct sale over the internet, 90% of owners are very happy with the Car, little higher in Europe!@@markplott4820
