I see speed junkies spend thousands of dollars into HP gains that drop 1/2 second from the 1/4 mile. So I’m all for this if you can’t afford an S plaid. But I don’t like the subscription model that Tesla is using to get more money from its customers. This goes for things that should be standard features like heated seats. There will be an aftermarket for this kind of thing.

+100 hp for acceleration boost on dyno
@djb730
4 ай бұрын
Slightly off topic, but I’ve owned a Performance for 3 years. I took out an LR on a test drive. It’s still fast, but the initial reaction when you ask it the question is just ... less. I was trying it to see if I had to wait for the updated Performance or not, and I discovered I definitely do. For the answer to the ‘is it worth getting the acceleration boost’ - it seems to me like the boosted one sits about halfway between the LR and the Performance. I suspect you’ll already know if you want it or not, but if you DO want it, I’d definitely recommend trying a Performance - you won’t look back (apart from every time you walk away from it.)

It is my understanding that AB is not providing more horsepower, but rather freeing up the front drive motor and relying more on the rear. Once installed there is no longer a standard performance option; you have to choose between chill and boost. If I am going to blow 2000 bucks on an upgrade, I will purchase the 19 inch wheels with the Pirelli winter tires. For those that want more horsepower, just go ahead and purchase the model Y performance.
@currentcommute

Yeah that’s a fair wait to look at it. To my knowledge they are simply telling the motors via a software unlock that they can now use all of their power when downloading the boost.

Do you guys have a safe way to run a 30 mph to 90 mph comparison, or a 25 mph to 85 mph comparison? That is the speed range needed for passing. Also, you would answer the question of whether the acceleration boost is simply freeing up the front motor off the line for the first 30 mph, or whether it is really delivering more juice to the motors once they are in motion.

Well with your reactions when you first punch the vehicle with boost, it does put you back in the seat a little more. I guess it is something to impress my friends. I have the 2023 Model Y Long Range vehicle. Hmmm!!! For 2000 dollars to get down below 4 seconds would not be worth it to me unless I am going to go drag race against some other cars. My question is with adding the boost, does it do anything to the range in miles - do we now get less range just doing normal driving. And does the boost now make the accelerator pedal more sensitive when you push down on it( far as trying to do normal speeds). I will say it is pretty cool that Tesla allows us to add a speed feature like this. I don't think any other EV's do this. If this boost enhancement does this to the Model 3/Y long range cars, I can't imagine what the Model S Plaid acceleration feels like. Thanks for the video and take care.

Ghost is faster only 0-60 that’s it after that it’s the same as AB. I decided to go with AB because of warranty on the battery and motors. 0-60 3.5 AB vs 3.2s on ghost. It’s really 150hp more in 0-60 but same power after that as AB. AB is little underrated imo, it adds more than 50hp at peak, I’ve see 100hp on dyno.

So weird people get a tesla for it to be a fast car lol. Teslas dont feel like ur actually in a luxury sports car. In other words u have it as a quick car cuz u can't afford better. Who wants a quick car that every average joe can get. That doesn't look aggressive and mean with a luxury interior and a head turning engine... u sacrifice all that to accelerate quick once in a blue moon. Real high end luxury sports cars are just as fun to go slow in as fast. Nothing gives u that "special" about being inside a tesla. Deep hard truth bra .
