The Tesla's advantage is on the highway travelling at higher speeds. The aero advantages really add up. The Bolt is much better at the regen and the slower, mixed driving scenarios. We saw that with the first TFLEV EV torture test they did and the Bolt blew away it's EPA numbers significantly and was able to recoup a lot more power than the M3P they had in that test and actually won that first challenge. I think you will see a more clear cut advantage with the Tesla when you are on your road trip. It should excel in that role. I think you will be pretty happy with how it is going to work our for your road tripping. Better efficiency at speeds, faster charging, convenience of autopilot, the Tesla charging network and navigation all just make for a better road tripper for sure. Thanks for sharing! On an added note I have continued doing some digging on the LFP vs the NCA/NMC batteries. We have been told that the LFP's have the safety and longevity advantage, BUT I found the video from 2 years ago with Dr Jeff Dahn talking about the batteries and I think we have been marketed to on the LFP. Jeff points out the strengths and weaknesses and talks about how they need to improve the LFP's for the longevity that is already possible with the NCA/NMC batteries. Look up ECS Jeff Dahn on KZitem and watch that presentation. I think it will give you some AH HA moments. I know learned a lot.

Just like a gas vehicle if you drive faster you consume more fuel faster in an EV use more battery, you have to account for headwind, if your using Aircon these all use up energy. I wouldn't even worry about it. I have the refreshed M3 LR and it is very efficient but know that it's 🔥 in Phoenix my energy consumption is going way up and mileage is decreasing which is normal. Great range test video. I keep the battery display in percentage instead of estimated range. That range number is always based on the rated range. I was so used to the Bolt's "Guessometer" and wanted something similar on the Tesla. I now use the Energy app (have it pinned to the tray) and have it showing the projected range (actual based on driving style/conditions over the last 30 miles of driving.) This mimics the middle number on the Bolt's display. I'm now happy to see my "real" projected range now and can leave the battery icon in percent. A problem with this test is that it 'took over 6 hours' at an average of ~40mph. This means that too much energy was being expended on 'hotel loads'; these are loads that are time, rather than distance related. The main hotel loads are cabin cooling and the power needed to run the car's electronic systems, and in summer the glass roof really places a heavy load on the HVAC systems.

I think people who have to replace them more frequently have a lead foot and drive the car like a race car. Anyone who races knows things wear out faster under acing conditions. People seem confounded by their mysteriously disappearing tires. They need to look no further than their own lead foot and harsh driving. Can’t blame them as it’s fun to drive a Tesla, but it’s not the cars fault if they drive it harshly, and then they blame the car.

I own a used 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD which I bought used. I live in AZ and I can say from firsthand experience that the heat will significantly affect your battery life. Your battery capacity is 63.3 KW, not 57. I could be wrong, but I think the total battery capacity is 63.3 KWh. 1. Your range on this loop is very good. 1000W/242W/mile = 4.13 mile per KW. So your actual range should be 4.13 mile/KW x 63 KW = approximately 260 miles. If you are driving 60% city and 40% highway, you can get that range if it is not too hot or too cold. 2. You have to drive at the speed limit to get the full range. If you keep the car at 40 - 50 mph in the city and around 65 mph on the highway to get the full range. You also need to avoid accelerating fast. 3. I can guarantee you that you need to clean the two radiators under your front "frunk." That will significantly affect how much the heat pump runs and it will affect your range significantly. My radiators were filthy and covered with debris. This is especially true in hot weather because the heat pump has to cool the batteries - that is its top priority. Tesla will replace the two radiators for $550.00 plus tax here in AZ, which is a very good deal because it is not easy to clean them. I probably will replace the radiators at some time in the future. 4. When you were stopped waiting for road construction, the heat pump had to keep running and that affected your overall range. In hot weather, any time that you are stopped in traffic, it will affect your range. You can buy a front filter screen that snaps onto your air intake on your Model 3, and that will prevent your radiators from getting more debris on them. I would recommend this radiator filter: www.amazon.com/dp/B0BX35NJLV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details With this filter you can snap the front of the grill off and remove the filter screen for cleaning. With other designs, you have to remove the entire grill to clean it. It's much easier to remove the screen than the entire grill. 5. Either clean your radiators yourself or have Tesla replace them. It makes a huge difference in your range in hot and cold weather. 6. In temperate weather I have gotten efficiencies around 225 KW/mile, which translates into 280 miles of range. But I have gotten this range by driving at the speed limit, not accelerating fast and driving in the city. However, this is the predicted range, as you have pointed out, but this range would be possible if you baby the car and drive it only in the city, and it is not too hot or cold. 7. I bought my car with 77,000 miles on it, and it has approximately 94-95% of its battery capacity left. 8 I have never run the car down to 0% charge like you. However, it is my understanding that you should have at least 60 KW of capacity to use. When I Googled it, Google stated that the car had 57.5 KWh of capacity. But that comes from an EV charger website and so I am not sure it is accurate. Recurent rates my battery capacity at 63.3. KWh. 9. My range estimates are with the AC set to 67 degrees F and Sentry mode activated. I have never tested the car without the AC on. When the weather cools off, it will be interesting to see how much it changes the range. 10. When I drive the car in the sun with temperatures over 110 degrees F, the range drops approximately 23% - 30% to somewhere around 200 miles. So heat definitely affects the range. 11. Tesla's battery cooling system is state of the art and so the cooling system is going to prioritize the battery over range to preserve its capacity. I doubt that the Chevy Bolt's battery system is that sophisticated. It may be letting the battery reach a temperature which will degrade it. I don't know anything about how long Bolt batteries last, but LFP Model 3 batteries will easily keep 90% of their capacity at 200,000 - 300,000 miles based on reviews I have watched on KZitem. 12. The Tesla Model 3 is rated as the most reliable, trouble-free car in China, which is the largest auto market in the world.
@S2kDude36

Given his efficiency of 240 kWh/mi and the car has a 57.5 kWh battery, I would only expect 237 miles to start with, so in reality, the range may have only decreased about 6% from new. For a 60,000 mile car that was not treated well during it's 2-3 years on the road, I'd say that's not bad at all.
