Deserted colonial farms in the Hills of NH are great places to go metal detecting, sometimes you have to hike far and way up to get to them. The first thing we did today on this frosty 16 degree morning was go exploring way up to the top of this 200 foot mountain. There are rock walls up there hundreds of years old and we wanted to see if there were the signs of a dwelling. We then spent the rest of the day detecting around this cellar hole with lots of history going back to the 1700s and with that there was a cabin site right next to it from the early 1900s. So with all that the mix of finds was really good with 1700s buttons, a complete 100 year old pocket watch, lantern, tools, buckles and a lot more. These are the crazy fun sites because you never know what you may dig up. the odd and funny kind of mystery is the grommets .......tons of grommets all over the place and at different depths in the dirt. the Grommet site.
