I must say an easy way to cook steaks is sous vide, and then after its "cooked" slap it on the outdoor grill for a few mins on each side. You can put the herbs and seasoning in the sous vide bag to cook it in! Yummy. 👍😁

In the future try cooking your rib eye (tomohawk) with the reverse sear method. low and slow to temp. then sear and the end. Rib eye is a Prime rib which is best cooked slow. try cooking it in the oven at 225 to 250 degrees til you get your internal temp then sear. I think you will be more satisfied.
@socomon69
2 жыл бұрын
Beat me to it. I do mine in the oven at 170 for an hour or so until internal is 115-120ish and then sear. Also that big outer band of fat won't render, so I trim it way back before cooking. Also, because of the thickness I dust in seasoning after slicing.
@gregchrist5090

@@socomon69 Try salting it and seasoning 1 hour before you you cook it. Just use a good salt. Something that doesn't have iodine in it. Sea salt kosher salt, etc...

@@gregchrist5090 I dry brine (salt) the night before and season before cooking. I'm saying that due to the thickness I do an extra dusting just before serving. It's a thick piece of meat and can handle a bit extra

2 things: It's Mc -KAY Harbor. Rhymes with 'today'. Nice job on preparing the mega-steak. I'm sure the puppies feel differently about a repeat attempt. Ok - one more thing: next time you're in or near Skyline Marina, you should check out the "Loop Road." It's about a mile from the marina in Washington Park. Just get to park and follow the signs. Many years ago you would see more deer than people, but it has become a hot walking spot for the locals. Beautiful views - the loop itself is over 2 miles, but you guys are good for it. Thanks for all the videos.

About the steak. I LOVE steaks, but cannot seem to justify spending all that money per pound for basically a bone. It's a ribeye. I just buy a ribeye and go from there, if I want the bone, I get a bone-in ribeye. Tomahawks are just wayyyy to expensive for a meh cut of meat (ribeyes aren't that great of a cut to start with). But glad you guys got to experience it, can't hold that against you guys. Oh, and happy super belated birthday!

@TheCritic-MMA

Hopefully, the BMS has cut-offs for both excessive heat and cold (you just can't charge in either, the PNW isn't likely to hit either extreme often). They're actually much safer from a fire standpoint as they'll never off-gas hydrogen, like AGM (AKA Lead-Acid) can. They're really better in every way, especially weight to energy density, I wonder if Sean's going to add a lot of electrical storage capacity or save money (fewer batteries/reclaim space in the house battery locker)? One note: it's generally better if they don't get charged all the way to 100% often, nor drained to 0%, but 5-10% buffer is fine for seeing 10+ years of life, MUCH better than AGM's emergency-only below 50%. There's a great KZitem channel about all things battery (and solar)... kzitem.info
