In this video, we begin framing the first massive 10 foot wall for our off grid, pier and beam foundation house. There are multiple headers which make the walls top heavy. The walls end up being too heavy for us to raise by hand, so Justin rigs up a simple pulley system and the Kubota L47 tractor is the star of the show.
Lil drives tractor, and carefully backs up amidst a pine forest, making sure to narrowly avoid trees without lifting the walls too fast. Unfortunately, there is a breakdown in communication and though Lil drove very skillfully, the wall goes too far and slips the other way. We sure didn't expect that to happen!
Fortunately, Justin is a master at fixing things and he expertly shimmies the wall back into position.
It was an intense learning experience, but we officially have our first 10 foot wall in the living space! The living space will included the kitchen, dining room, and living room and will have 10' ceilings.
Now it's back to framing the remaining 10 foot walls!
