Let no person ever lionize the US for “aiding” by financially supporting the excavation of UXOs that the USA dropped by the hundreds of millions into making Lao the most heavily bombed country in history. Financial assistance doesn’t even make the bare minimum of compensation for this war crime. The very China Lao train that takes you to Luang Prabang required Chinese and Lao workers to excavate and dispose of UXO along the route which added to construction costs and time.

Sad that we Americans NEVER respect borders or sovereignty of nations. In the meantime, our slogans are democracy and human rights! Laos just suffers during Vietnam’s fight for independence from the imperial west, from the white people. THANK YOU both for putting UXO front and center for the world to see, the atrocities we Americans have committed in the name of fighting “communism!” Ironic that we now invest HEAVILY in Vietnam to move supply chains out of China. It is ALWAYS money and politics, never about moral correctness, human rights, the liberty of the people to choose, never about the native’s self determination! As an American, I feel shameful

Laos might be poor in man made material but we are not poor in hospitality. Laos people are the most honest people in the world. We believe in all good things then fake it. Another obstacle to development was because they are landlocked and have no seaports or transportation to trade with other countries. The newly built railway helps tourists bring in revenues and lets them sell products to China and import needed things from China as well for cheap.

The building of railway & highways really help alot. Not only in terms of economy, but safety too. Many mines were clear along the railway & highways to be built in much faster speed than ever, and lands nearby are recovered for better use.

Already knew before, Laos was an underrated tourist destination, a little under the radar, I have seen some other vloggers visiting this place. The part about bombs that are still over out there, really does make a huge difference in the development of the country. On a positive note, good to see more tourists coming to Laos, which does help a lot since the COVID days, And for Note's case, Laos is next to Thailand so your Thai language skills really makes everything so much easier. Again, awesome vlog. Take care out there.

Happy to hear that you’re feeling better Flora.. the morning markets are the busiest right at the opening and the same for the night BBQ markets..sad fact that the USA Decided that it was cheaper to drop the bombs versus taking them back home and the worst part with that are so many innocent people die and get maimed each year .. lots of work to be done Yet to clear them by hand who are mostly women.. Kuangsi waterfall is so peaceful but some of the tourists bathe with shampoos in the pools .. so sad 🥺 .. I climbed the waterfall and man was it slippery 😳😂.. if you are heading down south go to the 4000 islands down in Pakse.. beautiful sunrises over the water with the mountains in the background 🙏 Another great Vlog you two .. stay safe & well 🙏🙏

From 1964 to 1973, the U.S. dropped more than 2.5M tons of ordnance on Laos during 580,000 bombing sorties-equal to a planeload of bombs every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine years - making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita in history. The bombings were part of the American Secret War in Laos to support the Royal Lao Government against the Pathet Lao and to interdict traffic along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The bombings destroyed many villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of Laotian civilians during the nine years. It is one of the biggest atrocities of war committed in secret by the US regime. The US regime is never held accountable for these atrocities of war. On the contrary: The same US regime and CIA are throwing bombs today in the many wars they create, and killing innocent people.

Thank you Flora and Note for exploring a very hard and tragic truth. I do know about Laos, I do know about agent orange, I learned something I never should have known at 17. I’ve shared I worked as a volunteer at the VA hospital, and the spinal ward where bombs have devastating men. At 69, I wonder at the arrogance of man that they think they have a right to take anyones life🙏🏻🤔and if I’ll still be alive to see mankind LAY DOWN THEIR SWORDS🙏🏻🤷♀️🤦♀️. The finish of those spectacular waterfalls is healing and a balm for a soul, thank you as I know it’s a tough topic, and you accomplished it well🙏🏻❤️😎dang autocorrect I WROTE devastated!!! 🤦♀️

Didn't know you would include the UXO 'museum'. So many in the world don't know how devastating the saturation bombing campaigns were to Laos. The usa pilots dumped their loads on Laos after bombing Vietnam. Cluster bombs are now banned as a tool of war but the usa still has not signed on to that provision. It is relatively dangerous walking around in Laos even in places like Nam Kiow on the Ou river, and the Plaine of Jars. It is why war and the making and dropping of bombs must be abolished on our precious planet. Thanx for including this, difficult as it is to absorb such knowledge and its lasting effects on the kind people of Laos.
