"Humans cower" ?? Bro ChatGPT knows how to wordplay
@McGyver008
2 ай бұрын
But ChatGPT only is _ a d v e r t i s e d _ as AI, while internally it is an old-fashioned algorithm, which don't really learn. AI since quite some time is associated mainly with neuronal structures (artificial neural networks) which work similar to a real brain (associative data processing and associative, self-contained rule-fee learning... a real brain learns even when remembering - like artifical neuronal networks). "AI" like ChatGPT is basically a refined approch using a database, which is evaluated (and making grow very quickly) using mathematical rules... which originally from it's ideas go back into a time, when even Windows was relatively "new". The data-hungry pseudo-(adverisement-)AI is the reason, why all kind of data is gathered in such a silly way since years. But these applications so never _ r e a l l y _ work intelligent, but rather stupid. The reason, why ChatGPT and similar approches are seemingly 'effective' is based on the massively stonger hardware these days than in the time, when such software principles (basically database-dependent non-deterministic, adaptive algorithms, which collect data for their database automatically, but _ n o t _ intelligent, but "brute-force")originally were introduced.

A.I. has no innate creativity. It can do things that _appear_ to be creative, but that is just an illusion. When it comes right down to it, any instance of A.I. is constrained by its training dataset. Even emergent behavior is ultimately deterministic. It can be a useful tool, but that's about it.

@ 20:48 Hey Jake, the eighties called, they want their music back😉 "There are two kinds of fools. One says, this is old and therefore good. And one says, this is new and therefore better" AI's are still in their infancy and quite frankly stupid. I'm totally with you on using them as an inspirational tool and then edit out the sixth finger or the misplaced eye. What worries me is the extensive use of them in critical contexts like web support and areas were ethics and empathy are needed. You can never win an argument with an AI, they just shut down or start repeating themselves. HAL: "I'm sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that" I'm a bit surprised that Asimov's laws of robotics aren't applied to AI's. It would make me feel a whole lot safer. Sorry 'bout the off topic rant but I hope we are still able to prevent Skynet from taking over. Great video as always. I prefer the human touch. ✌✌

Interestingly, I chose the AI in #2 and #3. Not because I felt the "song" was better, but rather it felt more like the goal. In #2 despite the nonsense the AI was spewing it felt more "folksy" to me. Similarly, in #3 Mike's submission was lovely... but it felt kinda wistful rather than optimistic, while the AI submission was more upbeat. Similar logic applied in the Battle Cattle arena. I chose your submission despite preferring the AI submission because it felt more like something fit for a Saturday morning cartoon. Definitely a fun exercise.

We had an expert on AI speak at our company recently and he pointed out a few things: the term "AI" is deceptive - it's just very advanced prediction. It's essentially just pattern recognition, but it has no "understanding". What this means is that once it's ingested everything created by people, that's it - it will never be able to create anything innovative. The other thing is that it is being trained using the work of real people, who are not being credited or compensated, to do what it does - which definitely brings up ethical concerns.
@Dzf34r
2 ай бұрын
Something that strikes me as odd, and maybe you can answer this, is if you can combine two things that are distinctly different from one another and get back something that is a combination of the two but definitely different from either one individually, wouldn't that be considered innovation? Or maybe I am incorrect in my assumption that A.I. is advanced enough to fuse two glaringly different things together like this while coming out on the other end with something half decent.

I can't help but feel there is a level of human bias in this explanation. For example, it implies that humans are capable of truly original ideas, which is a huge pat on the back for us but also disingenuous since our own ideas and creations are always a combination of experience and iteration with a little dash of what if. The what if component is largely a function of motivation which is absolutely human in essence and ties directly into the human condition, but I'd argue it doesn't remove the fact that we also imitate and stand on the shoulders of those before us, whether it is for a project in your local art class or even you're Albert Einstein significantly shifting our understanding of the laws of physics.

Saludos.

I personally love Suno because it helps me overcome my writer's block. I managed to finish a song I had left unifinished for four years, I had been stuck and didn't know which direction to take. We shouldn't shun it, rather use it to explore possibilities that would take too much time to compose and replicate on our own. Then, add your own twists to the ones that best fit your work. AI can be very useful, as long as its intended purpose is not to replace us, of course.

I'm impressed with what AI can do if you put a bit of effort into it. I thought being able to generate listenable music was a ways away, and I'm surprised Suno is able to make stuff outside of basic cookie cutter chord progressions. It's fun to play around with. As you mention, it's a good inspiration tool. But I'd still think AI isn't really completely coming for music even as it improves. I think that is a more realistic concern for artists (as in, people who draw) than composers. Which is odd to say when it has way fewer of the hilariously bad artifacts that AI generated imagery still struggles with. It's good to have level headed takes about AI because honestly the discourse around it can be so vitriolic that I am bit surprised you made the video in the first place, but I enjoyed it.
