I started Carnivore the day after I listened to Dr. Berry. I had no keto type flu, off my only med BP med in 2-3 weeks. Lost 22 lbs. Only weighed 122 to start with. I started a strict CARNIVORE way of eating to get metabolically healthy. I'm going into my 3rd year and absolutely thrilled with my metabolic health, my weight, my skin, my dental health. Haven't needed or used deodorant in 18 months or more. I was miserable with azcema on my hands, my vision is better So much has changed and gotten better.

Make sure that he orders a Coronary Artery Calcium scan (Agatston Scan). If you get a zero, even the American Heart Association recommends not prescribing a statin. Even if there’s a finding of calcium, it is simply a marker for potential future problems. Get a repeat scan in a year or two. Slowing or stopping progression is nearly as good as not having buildup in the first place. Speaking from experience here. My LDL is about 330mg/dl (which freaked my doctor out, I assure you), but I got a zero CAC and a completely clean CT-angiogram, so he stopped bringing up the statins. After all, LDL is a supposed risk marker, not a disease in itself, and hypothetical disease isn’t a problem, only actual disease is.

Most of that fat is stored in specialized cells called adipocytes. When you are ready for some energy and your insulin has reduced to low-normal, the adipocyte packages some liquid fat into a triglyceride, a bundle of three fat chains that will be carried through the blood on a lipoprotein raft. When a body cell wants some energy, it will send out a signaling protein on its surface that will grab that raft, then the whole thing will be absorbed through the cell membrane. The cell will disassemble the raft, recycle the cholesterol, then loosen the bundle of fats that it carried. Each chain of fat will be destined either for the Krebs Cycle (to produce ATP as an energy source) or to be used in making a cell membrane of some sort. In the energy production cycle, there is a step where carbon from the fat gets joined to some hydrogens. They make water that will be sent out of the cell. Another possible byproduct is a carbon attached to two oxygens (CO2: carbon dioxide) that you will breathe out. So, the 40 pounds of fat got transformed into cell products, water, carbon dioxide, and a whole bunch of usable cellular energy in the form of ATP.

Because then they could sell another drug to counter the effects of the statins. I have know people that were on several meds, for several health problems, and medications to deal with side effects of those meds. And then a third course of meds to mask the side effects of those secondary meds. And I have heard stories of people that were 5 meds deep, for controlling nested drugs like this. “This one is for your cholesterol. This one helps with the side effects. Then this one to manage the pain caused by that. And this once for the skin rashes caused by that. And this one to control the previous ones side effect of ED. LDL is often stated to be a poor indicator of CV health, yet so many of these videos continue to fixate on the LDL subject. Please, let's move on. Triglycerides, HDL, ApoB, Lp(a), sdLDL, VLDL - all much more important. The triglyceride/HDL “good” cholesterol ratio should be below 2. (My current ratio is 1.5) I have heard, "Very low dose statins, 5-10 mg, can provide +/-85% effective to help lower ApoB". My doctor wants to force my LDL exceedingly low, below 1.5 mmol/L. (60 mg/dL) I believe this low LDL level to be very unhealthy - generally. So I cut my 20mg pills in half to 10mg Rosuvastatin once daily. This is my current experiment until my next lipid test. The carbs I do have attenuate my LMHR triad, so my apob is 118mg/dL (high but not LMHR high). I figure that since I probably have vessel insults from my pre "knowing" days that keeping my apob as low as I can while still getting all the metabolic numbers in a good place, is the best way forward. My ALT is 18, fasting glucose 79, A1C 5.1, trig/HDL 2.1, hsCRP 0.9. Btw, my apob number is completely unrelated ro my vegetarian diet. It is totally related to my carb consumption. If I drop my carbs (by eating more avocados for calories for example) my apob will go through the roof (but my HDL would go up to like 90).

Additionally, there are Functional/Integrative Physicians which try to address "root causes " of conditions, and don't automatically go to the medications for protocol. I’m 54 with the calcium score of 640 and heart disease in my family. Are you really recommending that I eat all meat? Are you really recommending that I increase my saturated fat and increase my LDL. If so, what is your justification?

They had some new studies, which found out the healthy people profit from carnivore diet and their high LDL is not a sign for a cvd. They found that people with low LDL have the same chances of getting cv-issues. But it's still too new and too early to be absolutely sure about those with known family issues and hyper absorbers of cholesterol. I am curious about this myself, having similar family issues. But what is an absolute truth- is that metabolically healthy people live better and longer. If you can reach that on vegan or plant based diet, go for it, if you are suffering on this kind diet, change it, go mediterranean or keto, anything that will make you metabolically healthier. I am happy with ketovore, I could almost not walk before I started it, and although I was 48, I felt as old as my mom, or even older, and now 2nd year into ketovore, I can move and even do stairs. I would really rather live less long but healthier. That is one's own choice at the end.

There is a channel called No Carb Lifestyle where Dave has a lot of interviews of people who are following a carnivore diet. Ken Berry and Eric Westman both have good videos. Search their name and add CVD and/or heart disease.

I think, if I recall correctly, that combined with a low carb diet, cutting out seed oils, getting enough good quality sleep and reducing stress can all help to reduce the LDL from getting damaged; it's called peroxidation, but some people call it oxidation. I watched a Dr Ben Bikman video this morning which mentioned this inaccuracy.

Something I've noticed about Dr Berry, Dr Berg and several other carnivore enthusiasts is how they age, they look sickly, pale & wrinkled. The only carnivore that I have seen who has a healthy appearance, although terribly gaunt is Jordan Peterson. Why is that?

@Dustyphoto915 Could be. But they are the face of it on KZitem. I wonder about the long term, meaning 5+ years affect on kidneys & liver since meat is an aggressive protein, not like plant protein. I've not heard anyone speak to that. If you have, please direct me, I would be interested. Also absorbing the fear of death adrenaline & growth hormones, everyone can't afford grass fed & grass finished.
