I was thinking homelessness. I've been depressed for nearly my whole life and I've been homeless twice as a teenager, but my hair never got this bad. The closest to this I've been was homelessness, so that's why it was my guess. I've also only seen homeless people with hair like this, so who knows? Hey I have a similar issue with my hair. Long and prone to tangling very easily. Something that helps is using a really thick and good conditioner and letting that soak in for a good while in the shower. Then afterwards, use a good hair oil through your hair but especially on the ends. Sleeping in a satin bonnet also helps significantly. I hope for nothing but the best for you, take care of yourself!

Actually hospital staff are more often than not neglectful and cause people bed sores and other ailments due to neglect, understaffing or just plain laziness. It should not be that way but it is. American health care has gone out the window in every fashion... That's why I refused to put my mother in a facility when her cancer progressed to the point of 24/7 care. It was the hardest thing I ever did but I knew no one was going to give her the care she deserved like I could, with a little help from hospice nurses.@@sharemyeyesweetistme3718

I had one nurse, one time only - she tip the bed slightly, a plastic washboard, placed underneath. Jugs, bucket etc - she did a lovely job. Called Heather, a bank nurse 1987. I have had over thirty ops, disabled - never has anyone helped or offered, since. My toe nails have never been cut in hospital either. One time Sister on Ward would tell me to get onto nurses, remind them about my badly dried cracked dried feet. Same with dressings, stitches etc Think if you have no family, friends looking out for you in hospital (making assumptions you being looked after) - you can get over looked. Not always well enough to ask or like to ask staff. Was told when I asked once about my toe nails 'it wasn't their job'. Nobody chooses to be ill. Good health is wealth. Wish everyone, good health.

I just wanna say I started life out with 2 un educated and young parents my mom was very abused and was very rough on me, I took care of my siblings got left out of all the milestones I see so many parents share and enjoy, I quit school as my mom insisted,I went behind her back wrote the governor and got my GED at 17 put myself thru nursing school and had a degree my parents didn't even know. I got married had 2 children my then husband started using drugs and cheating I forgave and moved on , he left to change his gender, I was devastated, tried to find another husband for over 8 years, losing our home and cars ect ....... Got remarried and lost that man , lost everything all over again, lived in his work van for a while finally got a 30 ft RV that needed so love, and that's nothing about the 3 times I should have been dead the Drs tell me, chrons ,not including betrayal of family over money they thought I had , being at hospital fighting for my life while my home was being gone thru as if I were dead already, that's not including so much more.....God got me thru it and helped me get thru it , my children have watched a very weak woman be strong and firm ,a woman who had no ego or pride gain it ! They've seen me get knocked down and get right back up for more, they've seen me cry and want to give up ..but what will stick with them is my determination and will supported by God . @@WitchOracle I'm so sorry to hear, I was diagnosed with just clinical depression iirc by my gp several years ago but I can usually manage to get most self care/hygiene stuff out of the way on a daily basis, since I live at home still with my sisters they often do the cooking and other things so not everything falls on me. I would imagine it would be even harder for someone that has a much worse state of depression, and even more so if they live alone or don't have support. Hope things get better for you!

To all my friends here with chronic illness, depression, etc., I cannot recommend enough to find a hair stylist who can work with you to give you a low maintenance hairstyle that is also fabulous. My hair was very long and would get tangled in seconds. I was tired of it. I am disabled so brushing it was a huge task and I would just throw it in a bun most of the time. I finally went to get a haircut and got a lot of layers and my stylist also cut off a few inches. It debulked my hair so much! I still have my hair down to my mid-back, and it takes me less than a minute to brush now. Also, because of how the layers are cut, it’s effortless to style because even just brushing it or letting my hair air dry makes it look super cute.

"covid fear" is such a strange assumption to make here? The person in the clip is seemingly not masking, so that is a wild assumption to make when covid is airborne. Of course anxiety or agoraphobia can be detrimental, but those don't inherently prevent personal hair care. To. be honest, disabilities that lead to fatigue are much more commonly associated with this kind of matting (and these disabilities are increasing due to long covid actually), though we can't guess what exactly the individual was going through. Anyway, people avoiding covid is not akin to mental illness, and it's important to not make that leap, especially as the government abandons vulnerable populations more over time without reducing spread. If people care about protecting their health from covid (as they should!!), wearing a respirator like an N95 in public, rallying their community to join them to reduce spread especially indoors like hospitals/transit via widespread masking and testing, and demanding clean air filtration/ventilation whenever possible, are all tactics to stay safer. The virus is airborne and can travel to form asymptomatic cases about 60% of the time in recent studies, but still does internal damage over time with each reinfection, so it is important to protect one another still and not pretend covid is "over" or "nothing to worry about". We're talking about a virus that is actively killing over 2000 people every week in the US for the last 2 months now (as of Feb 2024), and mass-disabling millions of previously healthy people with new cases of Long Covid (1 in 9 canadians suffering with it), cardiovascular damage, and viral persistance which becomes more risky with each infection, even from mild or asymptomatic cases. Of course, there are steps we can do to mitigate the fear and stress of covid, as I stated above, by protecting ourselves and pushing for better public health measures like access to testing and clean air. But yeah... "covid fear" is a strange and worrying term to see used here like this.. Just something to think about.

About 8 months ago I moved to a town where the black to white ratio is about 60/40. So there’s more black owned salons vs white. The white salons here are incredibly expensive, and I refuse to pay 50$ for a cut. I walked into a beautiful black owned salon and asked for a haircut. She did amazing and I’ve been back every 8 weeks. We may have different hair texture but hair is hair. There’s no uppity fake acting like it is in majority of the “white” salons.

I had lost both grandmothers 2 weeks apart and I super stressed, depressed and just let my hair go like this client in the video. The stylist didn’t even think to do this but decided to just chop all my hair off (which past my shoulders) into a low afro. I cried every single day because of it as if I wasn’t already mourning that just made it worst. You truly blessed this woman 🙂
