For your ice chests, make ice blocks at home. Use milk jugs, 2 liter drink bottles or any container that will fit in your ice chest. You can even use large zip lock bags. Have a few made up in your home freezer. Put some block ice the cooler a day before you need it to leave home to chill the cooler. Put fresh blocks in when you load the cooler. They will stay frozen for a few days, and will not make a bunch of water in the bottom. You can reuse the containers. You could top it off with some ice cubes, but they won't last like the block ice.
@brianczuhai8909

Yeah, what they said. The ice melts slowly in the cooler, in the milk jugs. Keeps the cooler dry. And you have fresh drinkable water when it melts. Fill them up, when you get home, refresh, and repeat. The same goes for fishing trips for the fish to keep them cool.

I have an excellent trick for your coolers, an Indian relative told me about it. I actually always used a couple of lg Tupperware drink containers for water/ice as the ice melts you have water, so no water all in the bottom of the cooler, now here's the trick, take one of the inserts from a newspaper lay it across the in top a of the cooler, it works as insulation and you can use it for about a wk, when the kids were small we camped all the time, these 2 methods together worked so awsome.

That's great that you have one - just know my number #1 tip is knowing how to use it. Depending on the size, if you lose power it will only run your fridge for about 24 hours before needing to be recharged. So I recommend to people to get it out at least every 6 months and use it to power something. Then, take it out into the yard and hook up your solar panels and charge it back up. You don't want to be trying to figure it out when the grid is down ♥
