Once again making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. The dread in your voice was so acute when you were talking about digging into the dam and that would've been several days worth of work, I bet. Serendipity sure raised her head when you & the owner were talking. This was great to watch, Chris. It shows your character that you stand by your work. Thanks for sharing with us all.❤

That pond was full of surprises. Luckily, you were rained out and hadn't moved your equipment to the next job. I'm glad it was an easy fix, and you spotted the problem.

I bet the land owner was surprised you came back out to fix it so fast. Or at all. It's very difficult to get contractors back out to fix issues. Only the really good ones come back so fast. While I've never seen you have to return before, I think we all knew you would take care of any issues.

Good job Chris! It really looks like the previous dam builder had very little compaction on the dam. That can be a never ending nightmare. You would almost have to core the whole dam to fix it if it leaks again. Hope you all survived all the rain down your way…Take care and thanks for the video….

That pond filled up really fast. It’s a good thing that it did, otherwise you wouldn’t have known there was a leak until after you moved all your equipment. It wasn’t your fault and it was a relatively easy fix. It would have been a shame to do all that work and still have a leak. This pond should be good for many decades to come.

Glad it appears to be a simple fix. Really is kind of wild a leak on the corner of the dam can exit in the middle of the dam. Guess it must show how much concrete and other debris must be buried in that dam for the leak to snake that far.

That thumb would drive me nuts always leaking down and being floppy. I operated a Cat 330 that did the same. We put a spring loaded lock on the stick. When you put the thumb all the way up it would latch in sort of like a gate latch. Then when you went to use the thumb the latch only held on by a very little bit and the hydraulic of the thumb just let the thumb work as normal.

ps dad use to throw hand fulls of bentonite on the water to see which direction it wanted to move when he was leak tracing ponds. If it stopped in one place for a while and did not move much it was usually underneath where it stopped. It was more like sprinkling a film on the water than clumps.
