Great curtains! Remember that during the day you cannot see in but can see out. At night, you cannot see out but people outside can see in. To clean the rust from your tools, soak in vinegar for a couple of hours, time depends on the amount of rust. Rinse & oil, clean tools! Fair winds...

Yeah the one way nature of these things can be very entertaining. Really we don’t mind if anyone can see us, we just wanted to get the temperature down a bit in the cockpit. As for the tools, a big vinegar bath is in the future for sure. I may even have to get in it myself. 😂

Those shades look good, nice work Bri! Also for Iain cuffing you to the boat, you should take away his ice cream privileges for at least a month, so you get double.

What was the tape you used to waterproof / seal the windows? Looks just the ticket to Add to the spares box!
@RedSeas

So it’s called heatshrink tape. The stuff we picked up in Trinidad is made by Dr Shrink. It was great for the rain shelter we built back then and it’s been holding up on the window brilliantly.

White window shades would be better to keep the temp down inside the boat and more critically it keeps the sun from reaching the sika flex sealing your windows to the boat and causing the windows to come loose, a common problem with acrylic windows in fiberglass boats. UV degradation is real on the window bonds.
@RedSeas

Totally agree. The seals have managed 20 years remarkably but it’s certainly time to look after them more. That said, we played the balance of function and style. We really wanted to keep the darker window shapes and tint effect.

Yeah we actually pulled the tanks out a while back so they should be good. So far we have been lucky with our diesel purchases and not been hit with anything too bad. The raicore does a good job of keeping our lines clean too. 😊

The boat needs to be in dry dock. I would have waited to have the boat pulled out and than see what was available in the boat yard, before buying the wood. Just saying.
@RedSeas

I mean the cost of hauling the boat vs the cost of the wood would be hilarious. It’s around $6k a week here! And we can always pass the timber on to others once we are done. Pay it forward style
