Compass degrees, GPS coordinates, and triangulation between the AR reticle and the helmet camera to get the coordinates of what you're pointing at, that right there nabs you instant zero-effort target designation for anything from air support to artillery. Imagine calling a drone strike by glance
@CB0Otz
2 жыл бұрын
I think the GPS coordinates feature would work best from both within the lore and practically as like, an optional thing. Have it be something you have to turn on like a flashlight, since A: Spartans still use laser designators as a separate piece of kit AND have helmets specifically designed for artillery fire coordination in JFO. And B: I'm not a military expert but I imagine it's a little more than just marking a location with GPS coordinates for an artillery strike, but I could be wrong.
@velraven8944
2 жыл бұрын
@@CB0Otz well, calling in an artillery strike consists of the Observer identification (which could be attached to the message sent) , the Warning order, the Target location (attached), the Target description (could attach a snapshot of the camera, leaving more free time for the soldier to watch their back while the artillery team sets up the mission with appropriate ammo and fuse types), the Method of engagement (same as previous) and the Method of fire and control (same as previous) so it basically is that simple. With the exception of maybe having a radio line to request specific firing mission parameters for a more specific plan than just "destroy this thing", if you don't specify i would imagine you could increase the efficiency of the mission massively with much less time for forward operators to be spotted or for something to go wrong

Or possibly a rotary dial/switch on the side of the helmet along side where the comms unit would be.

Don't know if using the follower to count ammo is ideal. Nerf darts can compress quite a bit which may add up enough to make it innacurate. A common nerf mod to add this functionality is to add an IR led and sensor inside the barrel which detects a dart being fired via detecting the IR light being blocked by the dart and counting down.

In Halo 5 you can see the status lights are in fact in the nose piece. Co op subordinates can change their color by tapping the command button In Halo 4 the overlay lines are used for distance approximation. Look into mil lines used in military binoculars to learn how the math works The currently planned positions for the weapon motion trackers are about 5-7mm above the bore. This is technically no worse than the optics we already use, but this technology is uniquely suited to solve an age-old sighting problem and ensure utmost precision at point blank range for shooting around oddly-shaped pieces of cover or while under magnification if the weapon is tilted sideways. Long term we want to be able to install this system on a *real* gun, so the closer to the barrel the sensors are mounted, the more shaking force they must be rated for, at the tradeoff of a more accurate CCRP Current night fighting rigs *also* use external IR strobes for IFF. The power lights in the joints would be a good position to double up both LEDs and IR to ensure they can be seen from any direction while reducing the total brightness to mitigate their visibility to enemy sensors You *will* be retaining partially filled magazines because of the dynamic nature of reloading. There may even be scenarios in which you want to reinsert the same mag you just ejected to save time. The initial follower check is not only vitally important, but it must be rigorously tested to ensure you can never confuse the system with irregular ammo management

There isnt always a lot of room in the grip to add an RFID chip that could be read. Dude I like you, and I love your channel.. but this is not mjonir. You might get something similar to Raytheon's exosuit.. but I don't see this project going much farther than that. Firstly, heads up displays are universally hated by infantrymen the world over in every single test. These guys just tear off the gear and leave it behind so they can continue the mission without distractions. The HUD's tested were regularly based off of those used in video games. They're still too bulky and too distracting for practical fight-or-flight use. And second, but possibly more importantly.. exosuits need to function on an artifical ligament and tendon basis. Most muscle groups need to be replicated in some way. Most muscle groups in the human body dive in-between bones. The wrap-around effect of exosuits makes them inherently bulky and awkward to use. This also makes them dangerous to use. If you don't have an interpretation program for your inputs (like an avionics suite) you run the very real risk of being hyperextended or even torn asunder by your exosuit. If you don't have chronic pain, you cannot imagine the daily recurring hell you're exposing yourself to. The DOD has tried and failed to do what you're doing. They decided instead to invest their money in robotics. Exosuits are basically unnecessarily complex robots anyway. The fact of the matter is that exosuits might not be tactically or even strategically viable, even if they're technically possible. Halo is not real-life. What you're trying to accomplish won't help advance humanity. The powers that be have decided that exosuits aren't competitive with robots. Unless you're paying people to test these suits before you do, you're going to be maimed or disfigured at some point. permanently. I mean, the spartan armor is over 1000 lbs. This helmet alone should be neck-breakingly heavy. It's various sensor suites should cook your skull unless they're connected to the rest of the suit. Which has a fucking small fusion reactors coolant plant linked to every system to keep them cold enough that they don't even register on thermals... but they also don't have any radiator arrays. Fuckin' point is.. this is science fiction. You will financially, and possibly medically ruin yourself trying to replicate their tech. Spare yourself. Please. This shit might be possible but it's not viable. You're going to break your own heart... and possibly several bones

It also has a muzzle-based shot detection system so it can also track misfires etc. It may not be quite what you want, but it's off-the-shelf

The Gen 1 GUNGNIR helmet could be something to look into. Having full facial protection and having the perfect layout for the current hololens/camera set up. That said, it would be quite front heavy given the all the added weight protruding over the neck base

I'm doing Halo Reach Scout. It has plenty of top and brim room for varios cameras and sensors. I plan to airsoft in it too. It will have a heads up display but not this fancy. Just irnv/zoom display in the corner. It will also have decent airflow and filters for breathing and cooling. It will have a high mounted ir laser so others running gear I made can see anything I look at should I turn it on. And one of the nodes will be a normal camera for recording my games

you should put a thermometer as a band accross your head. Use one of the thermometers they used that is used on the forehead and temple. Then tie that into your cooling system. So if your temp goes beyond a certain value you set, the liquid cool would crank up to drop your temp back to normal. I dont have a clue if that is possible, but it would be good to keep track on your vitals so you dont overheat in the suit. Also you can put a O2 monitor in your gloved hand that would monitor oxygen and heart rate. These items are relatively cheap at Walgreens,... dont know if you have those. Also you can attach a Blood Pressure cuff in your arm armor to give blood pressure vitals at your command. Also if you strip appart a Apple watch you can use the ECG like device simply by connecting one lead to one figure in one glove and connecting a second lead to another finger in the opposite glove. Just thoughts. Really REally like your work. Hope you stay having fun. Just a P.S. You could attach decently powerful ultra sonic sensors on the outer shell facing every direction and then you could make use of that radar to a degree.

I'm assuming your going full digital for the night vision? FYI trex arms has a few very informative videos regarding digital night vision vs og tubes. This is the 1 technology that hasn't caught up yet. Optical tubes are still much better than digital, but a few companies are making strides. The real issue is range as far as I can tell, as well as ir signature as most digital nv's require a decent ir illuminator as far as I know. The range I believe is dependant upon the illuminator, where as it isn't required with enough ambient light and tubes.

Concerning finger based controls- you could make a touch (registered by rfid, nfc or even just contact electrodes) of the tip of the thumb and tip of the little finger- a gesture that likely will not happen on accident- pull up a ring menu, and navigate it by tracking hand movement with the lens, in 3d (2d relative to the initial position of the hand when the command was triggered) with option selection upon separating the tips of the fingers, with a neutral option in the middle. might be more intuitive and user-friendly than a wide array of different hand movements for different functions. I imagine i.e thumb and index finger would quite often trigger on accident if the user made a fist. in any case it is impressive how far along you already are!

Suggestion: could you not just weigh the magazine internally from the rifle to get the correct numbers of rounds?

Hey there! Little suggestion: instead of calculating where the gun is aiming using IR nodes on the gun, why not just stick the HUD reticle on the dot created by the IR laser you’re planning to install anyway? I feel like it would make more sense and be more accurate.

The other aiming methods they mentioned may require the IR nodes.

Huh... what I'm hearing is my scout suit would have an overwhelming advantage over his in terms of stealth. Mine will be able to see IR and have an option to not emit IR.

So I know this might be to far behind what progress you already made but what if you had the laser projector that you had previous to the holo lense and have that project the static hud display then have the holo lense augment the image to display the live info such as "health" or the reticle and comm info and what not, that way you don't have to impair the vision with milling the plastic when say system failure but still able to move

Maybe I'm still butthurt about the Halo TV series, but this is why real Halo fans needed to be in charge of the show. Your use of lore knowledge and gameplay elements as practical features really show the research and love put behind this project, something the show runners would never consider.

Maybe once you make the first prototype and try to get it on the military market you can team up with hacks with to produce them or even team up with them to help make the first one
