Sorry this is kinda unrelated to the video but you need to get a pop filter for your mic, and look into denoising, compression, and de-essing. It sounds like you're whispering as well, I would recommend moving the mic about half a foot away from your mic and speaking a bit louder. These should make your recordings sound better by reducing pops and mouth noises (this can be reduced by swallowing before speaking too).. recommend doing all these because the audio on this video is really bad. Really interesting points made in the video though

I'm a great admirer of your writing, and I'm looking forward to more of this series! History from this part of the world has always fascinated me in general. Delving into untold facets of that history is already a noble deed. As a trans woman I feel even more invested, of course, in knowing more about those who came before us. How we are both similar and surely different to our spiritual ancestors. I love the presentation and format so far; needless to say the writing is wonderful. Also the subtle humor is on point. (Thank you for affirming the person that usually pops into my head when I hear "Tiberius" spoken aloud.) Much appreciated, looking forward to more, and keep up the great work!

Firstly, your voice is really soothing to listen to, and it sounds like you've really done your research! I'm excited to watch this series! Second, stuff like this makes me appreciate the fact that I also got my degree in Classical Studies. It wasn't until after I graduated that I found out Classics has been coopted by white supremacists, which makes me absolutely grind my teeth, both for how stupid that is AND because people might assume that's why I studied it. So I'm hesitant to say my major nowadays. However, I do love to jump in with a "well ACTUALLY" when someone says that being trans is a modern fad. Coming at them with ancient historical evidence of trans and queer people tends to shut people up pretty fast. Not that I think it sticks, but at least I can shut down that line of argument before anyone listening takes it too seriously. Anyway, I really want to hang on to the point made in this video that just because something wasn't written down, doesn't mean it didn't exist. There are an infinite number of examples of things that we know existed even though they weren't written down. Writing isn't everything.

I love your content as a fellow Historian and archeologist. I just wanted to thank you for this idea for a channel. As a fellow youtuber also, I just wanted to ask if you are trying to do a sort of whisper, ASMR audio? The S sound and some of the mic feedback sort of comes forward. If this is your creative and technological intent, great 👍, i know a lot of folks like it. However, your voice when you speak with a bit more force and volume ( to me ) is so more attention grabbing like at 9:20- 10:00... i may be totally wrong and in the minority, so you do you, however, id love to see your channel blow up and spread, and i wanted to point that out on the off chance it wasn't intentional. Sorry, not trying to mansplain, just my 2 cents. I love the research and citations. Best wishes - Alex

6:25 This is a common argument used by people who try to disprove ancient masculine culture. While I agree with most of the things in this video this point was wrong and utterly pointless to bring up. Spartans were actually forbade from having any same sex relationships as it was a crime in their society. However this wasn’t for any reasons relating to homophobia, it’s because Spartans were expected to be faithful to their wives so that they could make as many sons as possible so they could grow into more spartan warriors, as it was known that Ancient Sparta had a population issue. The idea that Spartans had same sex relationships (while I believe it did happen as it does happen everywhere in every culture and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that) I don’t believe it was common at all. Spartans promoted a very responsible and masculine culture. This entire proposal that they were all homosexual is a more modern idea, propagated by historians to push a certain, “message”..
It could have also been used to release sexual frustration as well

Great work girl... I have to say though! Elagabalus saying he wanted to remove his genitals as well as many of his other supposed effeminate attributes may perhaps be slander of a sort against Elagabalus. Easterners such as himself were mocked in Rome for their femininity and it’s possible that the authors speaking about him in such a fashion speak in exaggeration to humiliate him, or at least other him, from the Roman people. I’m not denying he said or did any of this, with all the evidence it certainly seems he may have been a transgender sort of individual. That said, he took on male guise when dealing with legal affairs, otherwise he was said to be effeminate. I don’t deny the possibility that these statements may be exaggerations of Elagabalus’ culture or maybe even truths regarding his own actual femininity and gender identity criticized and demonized his behavior despite his supposed public effeminacy in order to jeopardize his position as emperor. I just don’t want to jump to conclusions even with all the evidence there is. The evidence comes from cis men again!
