You do such a good job! You know, I have mouthed off in the past about the BL Elementum being perfection but wishing for a premium steel version. The more I use my blade the more I appreciate the steel. After several sharpenings it just gets better and better. CIvivi obviously belt sharpens their blades initially. This is actually my second BLE. I lost the first and immediately replaced it. My other blades are feeling displaced.

That's awesome Doc, yeah I'm usually never happy with any factory edge, atleast in most cases, but I've been impressed with their 14c28n, of course it doesn't have edge retention at the highest level, but the price ratio of the edge retention I get and other awesome factors like its ease of Sharpening and the kind of edges, it's Strop abilities etc.. I've been very impressed. I'm also happy to see it in 20cv as well which I don't think they do a bad job with of course there's better but I'm almost never disappointed with their 20cv

I don't own any We knives butI've handled and sharpened a few. They are really good quality and functional knives with premium materials. But my favorite are the Civivi knives, you get so much value for your dollar and the quality is great. Not a fan of Civivi micarta but as far as construction and fit and finish they are excellent. My favorite would be the Riffle and Brazen in 14C28N both excellent knives and also a great first folder for those getting into the hobby and learning to sharpen. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I’d go with the Conspirator. It feels a tad bigger in the hand but not in the pocket, and the little bit of extra weight does indeed make it feel a lot more premium. The tip is low enough that utility cutting is still very easy and intuitive and you still have the versatility of a drop point. Very hard to go wrong either way.

Acess to the lockbar that is rounded and pinpointed to the spot where the thumb goes so the flipper doesn’t fall past and drop on a thumbnail . Sometimes I go to low on some knives and the flipper goes right on by . A nice rounded acess woukd eliminate most of the issue

I've had really bad luck with We/Civivi this year (after the Subjugator). Sucks paying about $250 and when you push that flipper tab the blade flops out about 60-70%. And the 20CV heat treatment seems to be a toss-up. I will never get a coated blade from WE in 20CV as 58-60HRC (according to We's own spec sheet) is way too low for 20cv/M390. Does that mean I won't get another WE? No. I love WE and Civivi, but I do think they have become a bit lazy. Putting out very plain looking knives and asking a bit too much for them, as not even a few years ago we would get intricate milling patterns or just regular patterns milled across the scales. While now we might get some micro milling along the edges of the scales/frame. As a fan, it's just a little disappointing since I know they are capable of so much more. And it gets a bit old to see the same clip on 90% of their knives. But that's just my personal experience and opinion. Keep up the great work Jerad and Kara
@tacticalcenter8658
2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Poor heat treatment protocols provide poor performance. They need to work on the protocol to provide a better microstructure. Too bad they don't even know what that means. Someone said that someone mentioned they upped the hrc...but without a good microstructure to begin with, it won't increase performance much at all. They just want your money. And most people only care about action.

@NeevesKnives

All of the we knives are titanium, they use these clips because they work best and they can save money by using the same clips, of course I'd rather have a more milled style clip, but i do like that it's titanium it's deep carry and they work great
@Cid_1

12C27 & 13C26/AEBL was used for razor blades, while 14C28N is an evolution/upgrade of those steels. Quick History: In fact, 14c28 is an upgrade of the 13C26 “Kershaw asked Sandvik to make their 13C26 steel more resistant to corrosion and the result was 14C28N”.
@NeevesKnives

@@NeevesKnives I love AEB-L (13C26 is just the Sandvik version of AEB-L) on fixed blades, and 12C27 on cheap folders as it so easy to get SCREAMING sharp. But 14c28 is a whole different beast in both folders and fixed blades. We used all 3 here in Scandinavia for a long time, and still they are a go-to steel. 14C is So so good 😁
@tacticalcenter8658
2 жыл бұрын
I really like sandvick steels in general. 14c28n is really hard to beat. So easy to heat treat and provides great performance for the cost and ease. It would be nice if we got rid of all the junk steels and just use 14c28n instead of d2, s35vn, 8cr13mov etc. Then step it up a notch in the high end with steels that are easier to heat treatment and provide performance above that of 14c28n. All this 20cv and m390 is so poorly done, it often isn't much better than 14c28n or its worse than 14c28n.

I’m checking to see if they fit on a praxis and a rifle so it looks super cool and I finally found some cool ass knife hardware . I ll update after friday. Screw holes look 👀 the same as the ones it says its for , 2 stacked holes , should be but there’s always something so we’ll see . Fricken to clips on the g10 praxis black blade dark green blk clip and riffle drk grn micarda silver blade sil clip . $13 a piece isn’t bad either . I also seen they had a bunch of mods and screws for benchmade bug out , like lots of things from scales ,mbackdpscers, colored screws , cool ass hardware chicago,sex screws and pivots .

I’ve purchased several aftermarket clips for Civivi’s, and one detail that I noticed about the ones that I have bought were some of the holes where the screws go, Some of the holes are beveled around the edges for recessed screws, and some are flat around the edges which would be for mushroom top screws.

Where the hell did "boo-ee" come from? Every time I hear that it sounds so off. I think about "Ziggy Stardust" from David Booie. That out of the way, I've always been a knife lover, but not someone who collects then or anything. When I feel I need a particular knife, I take some time and find the best one that I can afford. Actually usually a bit more than I can afford because if find if I don't that I'll inevitably want the better one and will buy it later, never to use the first one. I'll use them forever. I pretty much went to using fixed blades for even an EDC. I've been using a Lionsteel M1 for the last few years, and always have it on me. I've been thinking about a folder especially in the last few weeks with 98⁰ humid days where I'm dressed really light and it's easier if I can't mount it scout to my belt ori don't want to take my shoulder bag. I hadn't even heard of Civivi until watching these, and I'll likely end up with one, they seem great.
