Today subjected to sadness, Istanbul remains our "home".
We could only end this series of vlogs with our soul city, Istanbul. Before we venture ourselves to other corners of the world, we want to leave here, written down, a few words of gratitude for the place that has been our home for almost a year.
Calm and chaotic, traditional and modern, crowded and desolate, this city of contrasts offered us more than we expected. This past year, we set out to steal a lot from the locals, and we did it with no regrets.
We stole some "lust for life". Not a few times we found ourselves gazing at the way afternoons pass by the shore of the Marmara Sea:
They pass smoothly, with multicoloured sunsets and accompanied by laughter.
They pass with Turkish tea and "barefoot" walks through the grass.
They pass with the sound of seagulls and the song of the waves.
They pass with guitar chords and smell of ripe chestnuts.
However, this scenario has been often disturbed . When it comes to civic sense, Turks do not sit "in their place" and therefor, conflicts and abuse of power are not tolerated too often. At least not in the eyes of the world. We learned a little about this too…
We also stole some habits: a Turkish tea drank quietly at the right time can do wonders. Let's not even talk about baklava...Istanbul taught us that the beauty of life is often under your nose and all you need to do is enjoy it, as simple and beautiful as it is.
ENJOY 👫🏻
