Back in 1973 my friend and I picked up a hitch-hiker and drove with him from Nevada to southern California. It was lucky because when we got to my house my brother was having a bad trip and the hitch-hiker guided him through the experience. He stayed at our place for one night, then made his way to wherever he was going and left his Stetson hat for me. 😊 P.S. Isn't this the most Boomer comment ever? 😂

First they clean your house so they can look through all your stuff without it being suspicious. Then they lure you out of the house so they can steal everything

Sounds like the old scam where the car gets opened up and a note left inside the car. The note reads sonething like a couple had a medical emergency and needed to get the pregnant wife to the hospital. The note goes on to say they had a take the car and they had a baby girl. They are extremely sorry for doing that but they want to make up for the inconvenience. They attach two movie tickets or a prepaid voucher at a resturant that night. The householder goes to dinner or movie to find their house has been cleaned out.

In the early 90s I would meet People working and invite them to stay at my home for free since they were traveling and from out of town or lived in Europe and go to eat and this is how many people survive and traveled. Just not done today.

Is she talking about airbnb? Room share? That's scary! 😮

You never know. I grew up with my parents letting a never ending stream of people stay in our house temporarily while they were short term homeless. They have since moved on to everything from prison to CEO of a solar panel company and a millionaire.

Shawn and her roommate at the time let her now husband Andrew and his brother stay over after their first date because they planned to stay in their car because he flew to another state to go on a date with her I believe. He didn’t ask she offered after finding that out.

Not sure the context but there was a website called "couchsurfing" where you would let people stay with you for free. The exact same as airbnb but before we become capitalist assholes. I hosted dozens of people back then. This was around 2008/2009. My guests were really lucky because I had an extra room just for them. Good times.
