"10,000 Kalashnikovs for a battalion? Your stocks are dangerously depleted." Yeah, considering that a battalion might have around 600-700 soldiers, that's only like 17 guns per person. [Edit] Alright, to all the helpful shitheads chiming in saying I don't get the joke: Yes, I know that the point of this scene is that he's fudging a typo to divert 30,000 weapons from the armory. What I'm saying is that the writers probably confused a battalion with a division, because there's no way in hell a single battalion would ever require 10,000 small arms, much less the 40,000 they actually had. Even then, 40,000 weapons would still be way too many for a single division. A corps might need that many, but not a division, and certainly not a battalion. Clear?
@drpainglove3389

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's an intentional joke. Earlier in the film he mentions that due to the collapse of the Soviet Union the army of that country downsized massively, now all that's left is a battalion in that region and they have way more tanks, guns and ammo then they have soldiers. So an easy way to make money. A jab on military corruption so to speak.

If someone is interested: music in the background is probably one of a many versions of Russian song "Little club" (Дубинушка / Dubinushka) which became famous in the 20th century when performed by Russian singer Fyodor Shalyapin. This song is reworked version of "Song of the Volga Boatmen" - which is famous native Russian song. Not sure about which one is used in the scene, because both songs has a number of choral performance records.

the ukrainians are useing 500 javelins per day according to ukrainian government sources, yet their total tank claimed kills is still less than a division (~300 have been destroyed, but the ukrainains claim most of that was by artillery and drone strikes not missiles). i think its clear the javelin is over hyped.

Really puts movies like Red Dawn into perspective now. No way the Soviets could ever have won against NATO if the Cold War went hot. 1945 was their high-water mark and it's been downhill ever since.

actually according to Ukraine its the flooding of the roads by the ukrainian military that caused the bogging down. the ukrainian government claim that is what caused the logistical issues with the Russians (or atleast made it have a noticeable effect on front line troops). this also explains why the Russians continue to advance in the south (where there is no flooding) despite the same people doing logistics...

A little trivia from the IMDB page: According to writer and director Andrew Niccol, the filmmakers worked with actual gunrunners in the making of this movie. The tanks lined up for sale were real, and belonged to a Czech arms dealer, who had to have them back to sell to another country. They used a real stockpile of over three thousand AK-47s, because it was cheaper than getting prop guns. :D
