I have had "Oil Down" before when some University students from Grenada came to Jamaica one summer, and we had a nice send off when they were returning home, it was so delicious. I loved it. I have never seen it cooked before, but I hope to make it in the future. In that same send off, the Trinidadian students cooked 'Pelau', which was also very delicious. That summer school was the best ever! We had so much fun, eating different meals from the Caribbean, and dancing to different Caribbean music etc. It was a blast! Love my Caribbean brothers and sisters, the culture, the music and the food.

Hello I visted a community called Effort in Clarendon Jamaica many years ago. They cooked yam and other ground provisions in a huge pot and it was flavoured with corned pork and coconut milk. I guess that was the Jamaican version of the Grenadian Oil Down. I cant remember what they called it but it was tasty. I remember meeting a Grenadian friend on mission to Haiti. She called Oil Down a work of art. I would definitly agree with all that went into the pot. Keep our culture alive through food.
