I wouldn’t say they’re always overrated - overpriced definitely in some cases. I would say though that the cheaper pedals are more likely to be faulty and so have quality control issues from some brands. If you get a good one though then you’re laughing as you’ve spent a fraction of the price for an amazing sound 😊 I’ve got an amazing muff based pedal from Harley Benton that cost £15 which could easily beat some others much more expensive!

Ya, I use the Wah in half-cocked mode also. My all-time favorite wah was one called Phaser-Wah, but haven't seen that in years. Didn't care for the fuzz at all (the one with the lightening bolt display). When I buy pedals today, I check to see that it has stereo ins and outs, I also like sends and returns in stereo. I had the H90 on order, but cancelled it because I got apprehensive about it's complexity. Biggest buy is the Boss analog delay 102, but I already have a Boss dd-500, but the new Boss does have some reverb.

I guess watching this on my phone, I'm losing sh_t, cuz the "plasma fuzz" thing (after the wah that nobody liked) just sounded like static to me. Even though they liked it...I didn't. The other stuff is great. The H-90 is just a series of programs that will transform your signal, you can program them to run in different steps, change the order to change the sound. It's complex, but once you get it dialed in to the sound you want, it's awesome. Like Rhett sorta demonstrated. But as Rhett pointed out, it's probably not suited for the road. Studio only. I did like the 202, esp the "aged tape" effect, lol. Some of the stuff was a little too "ethereal" for me. Mostly, I just want guitar sound. I like "effects," but only for effect lol. If that makes sense.

You know, Robert and Rhett, I may be and probably am in the vast minority, but I grew up HATING the early fuzz boxes of the 60s and 70s -- ESPECIALLY after owning some of them! You don't seem me using anything like them now, unless they are a simulation inside a multieffector like the one I just bought for my birthday, where the fuzz sim feeds and is colored into acceptability by the amp sim that comes after. Yeah, that's my personal taste with distortion; I don't like the more "electronic" sounding stuff. I know, that IS a weird thing to say while talking about a stream of ones and zeroes flowing through metal traces in a silicon rock, but it's what hits the brain that matters. Everything else is just how you get there, and the only one(s) who will really care about the journey is/are the one(s) who took it!

I used a Space Echo live in the 70's and have since used the TC Electronics Alter Ego which offers 3 easily adjusted delays - WEM Copycat / Space Echo / Echoplex etc. on the 3 foot-switches - but this new Boss one is pretty amazing! The H90 clearly cool but I'm not into 'programming' so keep Chorus / Leslie / Phase pedals separate.
