About Dr Maksym Yakovlyev:
Dr Yakovlyev holds a PhD in political sciences from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He's the Head of Department of International Relations at and Director of School for Policy Analysis at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He is also a member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
His research focuses on:
Political concepts and ideologies, language and ideologies, international relations, Ukrainian identity, the (post)modern Russian imperialism, security formats for Ukraine, and he transformation of the world's security architecture.
His recent publications include:
The potential lessons that can be learned from the African post-colonial experience, the need for transforming the world's security architecture, and challenges of transitions to post-information society. He’s also involved in projects that study the needs of people in the newly liberated areas of Ukraine.
