@@colerippeon3903 Yes, it is more efficient. Just get the heaviest grease you can find and coat the inside of the transfer ports and exhaust ports to cover the aluminum. Now that you can dissolve aluminum... now you should dissolve steel with "alum" (can demonstrate dissolving a steel bolt in an aluminum head for example) You just need a high concentration of alum and a bit of heat to speed things along.

The basic thing happening with this stuff is the iodine and chlorine really aren't all that interested in remaining bound to each other and when they break apart, the chlorine has a stronger affinity for the metals and oxides, converting them into chlorides, releasing the iodine as a gas, the purple color seen when it is reacting.

Then connect the trailer to a Lada and the trailer pushes the car.

@@jwalster9412 That would be a short video. A starter motor isn't made to run for very long because of the high current. Take out the spark plugs, disconnect everything else to reduce drag from the engine, leave in 1st gear, and just use the starter as it is. I'll wager it will either run down the battery in 10 minutes or burn the windings. Experiment over.

No connection there, the reaction is strictly between the iodine monochloride and aluminum, giving off iodine (the violet gas) and aluminum chloride. The inside is probably oxidized and/or covered in deposits as it often happens. The reaction seems to be highly exothermic though, as you need to have over 180C to get iodine vaporized, so it looks like it's "burning". But it's not burning.

I-Cl is more reactive, since it's an interhalogen compound and with different hazards involved. With muriatic acid, the Aluminium goes into solution due to H+ getting reduced to H2. Here, I+ gets reduced to I2 instead, which itself is highly reactive towards living tissue. Later, when the Iodine is used up the reaction shifts towards Aluminium reacting with H2O, producing H2 gas and several aluminium complexes [AlX4]- with X being Cl- and/or OH-, due to the ramaining Chloride dissolving the passivation layer of the metal.
