i feel this so hard ,we have similar budget here in SF, we ended up going with a new build in Alameda. There is no "over asking" or offer situation, we just saw the model, put a deposit, and picked all the finishes to give it a little more style. We sacrificed historic charm and character, but we know in 5 years we can sell it and be in a strong position to get a forever home (like omg a house house) next. it was a lot to be ok with a compromise on a literal million dollar purchase, but owning vs. renting won out over waiting to get lucky. best of luck to you!!

Just want you to know that the amount of endometriosis tissue is not directly correlated with the pain you experience. Some people may have a small amount that is extremely painful and vice versa. Your pain is valid no matter what your endometriosis looks like!

YES! I have stage 4, and there's been so many people that have said "oh I only have stage 1/2" and I always tell them the same thing. You could literally have ONE Endo lesion and if it's in a certain spot, it could cause a ton of pain. Stage 1 is just as valid as stage 4, the stages really should just be thought about as *where* the Endo is, and not necessarily how bad it effects the person, ya know?

@@MeghanRienks Hey Meghan! Before your surgery I would make sure your doctor is doing an excision surgery vs an ablation surgery. I had stage 3 endometriosis and had my first laparoscopy a little over 2 years ago and my endometriosis has already come back! I did feel 100 x’s better within those two years and my pain still isn’t nearly as bad as what it used to be. But I had an excision surgery the first time and didn’t know the difference! Ablation surgery has higher success rate of keeping it from growing back the longest! But I’m still happy with my laparoscopy, it has brought me so much relief! I hope you get that same relief soon!

Hey Meghan! I know exactly the nerves you are feeling about being properly diagnosed with your endometriosis. I went through the same thing 2.5 years ago and was really worried for surgery. I was thinking, “what if it is all in my head?” The first thing I said when I woke up from surgery to my doctor was “did I have it (endo)?” And he said “yes, it was a mess in there!” And I just remember crying tears after knowing my years of pain was finally validated!!! Keep fighting for yourself, girl! It’s going to be worth it and I promise it’s not in your head!

just bought a house and it was HELL. We fell in love with the first house we saw, put an offer on it, and didn't get it. Saw another one, didn't love it but put an offer purely because we liked the area and the backyard, didn't get it. Finally found the house of our dreams and went in hard for it, there were 12 other offers and we somehow won! We close Feb. 23, and im actually happy we lost the second one, because this house is perfect. ( still sad about the first one though she was so charming)

Good luck with the house hunt, the market is so overpriced everywhere. I can't believe that the house I bought just over 5 years ago is now almost doubled in value, good for me as it's an investment but I know it's really not worth that much. People in Sydney Australia are moving up the cost and houses in Syd are soooooo expensive they think our homes are a bargain and can offer hundreds of thousands over asking price. Who would have thought a pandemic could done this to the property market, just total insanity.

Not usually one to comment, but I wanted to share my endo surgery experiences with two different types of surgery. I'll try to keep this short and hopefully it makes sense? To start, I definitely struggled with feeling like my pain and symptoms weren't real... even though I felt them every day. I worried that the doctors would find nothing even during my second surgery when it was 100% confirmed I had endometriosis. I understand, and I hear you. I can't remember the technical names for the surgeries are, but my first one was basically a burning of any tissue superficially. So along the outside of my uterus, bowels, bladder, and such. This did help for a while with general pain every day - like with standing, walking, sitting, sex, etc. - but my mensural symptoms reduced only slightly. I still heavily relied on birth control to manage severe, crippling pain. And not surprisingly the endometrial cells regrew over time and I had to get a second surgery due to even *worse* chronic pain a few years later. My second laparoscopic surgery was more "invasive" - the specialist I went to said they were going to go pull back linings of my tissues and look for any and all endometrial cells they could find. Turns out I had a few masses just chilling for years that the first surgery never had a chance at getting and ultrasounds could not see. After this surgery my life changed for the better in every way! It's been 6 years, and today I'm not constantly reminded that I have endometriosis by my body. Sure, my periods are still more severe than the average person, but the daily pain is manageable and I'm not bedridden 3/4 of every month. I've only just recently started to notice hints of pain where my last mass was located. I hope you are able to get the surgery and/or find a way to manage your symptoms. I had to fight my insurance too - they tried to tell me it was "unnecessary." Thankfully I had an amazing doctor at the time who fought for me. Good luck and I hope your doctor fights for you too! I'm open to chat more about my experiences if you would want, so feel free to reach out.

Girl, I totally get how you are feeling. Throughout my teens I was told I just didn’t know how to handle my period pains cause I was depressed (still irritates me that my doctors used my mental health as an excuse not to listen to my struggles). Before I went in for my laparoscopy I was so scared that they’d find nothing and it would prove that I was ‘weak’ like I felt they were saying I was. I can’t tell you the relief I felt when I was told they’d found endometriosis and adenomyosis and removed what they could. Knowing what I was feeling wasn’t all in my head and that actually, I was stronger than I thought I was for dealing with it for so long was such a weight off my shoulders. Surgery is scary but you can do it! And please know that your not alone in what your feeling x

I hope you close on a new home soon! I know how stressful the whole process can be :( My fiancé and I just purchased our first home in Seattle a few months ago and it was not easy. We did a pre-inspection prior to putting in an offer and received an underwritten pre-approval from our mortgage lender so we felt comfortable waiving all of the contingencies. Twenty one offers were put in on this house and one couple did put in a higher offer than us but they kept their financial contingency and had a small down payment so the seller decided to go with us. Our house has already gone up in value by 100k and its only been 2 months. This market is absolutely nuts but it will happen for you! It just sucks that is has to be this way. I always thought buying my first home would be a more enjoyable experience.

I requested the surgery because I felt like there was scar tissue that was effecting my progress and knee stability. The surgeons were very skeptical and tried several times over 5 months to change my mind (even on the day of surgery the doctor said the surgery probably wouldn't make much of a difference). Turns out there was not only scar tissue under my knee cap, there was floating cartilage in there too. Trust yourself, you are the expect on your body.

I'm so excited for you to have surgery! I've had quite a few, and a few that also included organ(s) removal, and if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer what I can(im obviously talking about like what to bring for surgery, things I found helpful, stuff like that, not any medical questions) and really two things I'd say is 1-you should think of Endo stages (1-4) as *where* the Endo is, not how painful it is or how badly it effects you. Your pain is valid, stage 1 can be more painful than stage 4, and ive known a lot of people to feel beat down after getting diagnosed stage 1, so I just wanted to give a heads up to you, and really anyone reading this. 2-after surgery, I've found I've had the best recovery when I force myself to get up and move around, because getting gas up by your collarbone was really difficult for me to deal with, physically and mentally. I hope you get the answers you're looking for, and you can get some relief from this surgery. There's a massive Endo community across several platforms, so just know that you're never alone💝💝💝🙏🙏💛💛

They tested me for celiac and obviously I don't want to be celiac, but I also kind of wish it was positive because then I would know. Same thing every time I did an exclusion diet. Maybe you guys can wait a little longer on buying a home. You won’t be able to sell the house as high as you buy it in most cases. People are buying houses that are waaay more than they’re worth. Just some thoughts.

that is the case most places, but LA the value goes up daily. we're not going to overpay for a house that won't be accruing value.

I’ve had two laparoscopies (first one, the endo was missed) and unfortunately I need another. I will hopefully be getting a partial hysterectomy next year at age 26. I got a Livia for the cramps and it’s wonderful

Thank you so much for sharing your Endo journey! I cannot tell you how validating it is to hear someone else going through the process and sharing the same concerns... My biggest fear is that they do not find any Endo during surgery. Thanks so much for bringing awareness to this condition! You are actually the reason that I spoke to my doctor about my symptoms and pushed to get a diagnosis for my pain. Wishing you luck for your surgery! Sending you so much love xxx

I’m so sorry your surgery relies on if your insurance covers it. Come move to Canada!

I had the op for endo but it turns out it wasn’t endo. I actually felt relief because that means no more surgeries! Then I got fibroids 😭 My GP is very slow to investigate or treat. But right now I’m happy taking meds and using my tens
