Get a plumber. Take a break and go get your lovely children. Maybe take a short nap??? You two have worked overtime building the gorgeous home and it shows it too. Look at all the "SKILLS" you've both picked up along this journey. I am so excited as you two are on scratching off one more item on your list of things to do. So proud of both of you. God's Blessings to you ALL.

LOVE my tankless water heater. Ours has a fuse on the motherboard. Order a pack because we found when we needed to replace the fuse that we couldn’t get it anywhere. We had to heat water and use a bucket system for 6 days until the pack of 5 fuses arrived.

Just a pointer on that outside hydrant. Those are meant to be ran into a condition space. On the exterior wall you tan it in then 90’d down that outside wall into the crawl space, it will guaranteed freeze in the outside wall. Would be way better to run through the rim joist just like you did with the dryer vent. If ever there is a problem then it all can be accessed from the crawl space, as you have it now it will require you to cut out the Sheetrock or whatever you put on the wall to fix it when it does freeze.
@OneFootOfftheGrid

Running it through the rim joist would have put it below the deck level. I'm going to install a shutoff/drain so I can drain the line to that hose bib in the winter. Thanks for the tip though, it would certainly be back news if that froze..

I installed a tankless in my old house. The thing I didn’t like was that it took longer for the water to warm up. Having the recirculating hot water will prevent you from having that issue though.

Yes, I'm hoping that the recirculating system will help with that problem. Sara said she didn't mind waiting, but it bugs me having to wait.

The first tankless was installed by a pro’s. Lol lol That did not go so well. The first one almost burned down my mom’s house. Her second was a little better. But she couldn’t run the shower and sink at the same time. Now she has a new place and I installed it. She loves it. No problems and I am not a pro. Now for our house we have a hybrid/heat pump hot water heater. Love it!!!! It coast around $10 to $12 month to run it.

One suggestion for lifting heavy stuff onto your deck: stand a couple of 2x's against the deck on a slant, lean the heavy thing on them, then pick up the bottom and slide it ono the deck. Easy peasy. ❤ 😊

My personal experience is that there is very little “instant” about instant water heaters. Large amounts of water wasted waiting for hot water, even with a recirculating pump. Mixing valves can also significantly delay hit water.

Do the plumbing yourself, Use a black marker , draw a straighr line on both pieces of pipe, pull apart and glue and put together and line up the lines, easy as 1,2,3,

Well... years ago I learned about the importance of what they call "positive self-speak"... that running dialogue in your head as you contemplate options. Quickly... or maybe not so quickly... I learned to turn "I hate plumbing" into "Plumbing is my least favorite job right now". Like anything, practice makes all the difference. I'd suggest doing it yourselves... but try to adopt the positive self speak too because it DOES, eventually, make a difference. Good luck.

Another way to make that dryer vent pipe fit the outside wall is to taper the hole with your router.

I was glad to see you went with Elongated Toilets. My current house has small bathrooms and we have Kohler round and I wish we had elongated. A month back a neighbor asked if I could look at their unit as it wasn't working. That was the first time I ran into the new Canister flush valves. Theirs just untwisted and fell off so it was easy to fix. One thing I noticed it the canister like most overflows are low to keep the flush to 1.28 GPF. If you want to get a better flush you can buy a rubber pipe coupling that tightens with a hose clamp and make the canister taller so more water sits in your tank making your flush better. It's nice saving water but the more water on a flush moves things better inside pipes. I couldn't tell but did that water hose bib have a pex connector or a sharkbite push connector? It looked kind of brass or maybe it was just the lighting.
@OneFootOfftheGrid
Жыл бұрын
The fitting on the bib was just NPT pipe thread and then I added a 90 degree sharkbite fitting. Debating if I want to have a sharkbite fitting behind the wall, so I might remove it and swap it with a pex fitting. Agree with the toilet flush rate. It's good to save water, but especially on septic, I want to make sure we have enough water flowing to make she system work right.

I've heard it called a navy shower. While in the navy and assigned to submarines water is a premium. So you have to turn water off and on to conserve water. While I was stationed in Berlin, Germany, I rented an apartment near my Army Base that had a tiny on demand water heater. Literally took 5 tank loads just to take one shower. I get it.

Hi Sarah and Ryan!! Great to see you both again!! Good news! I have a tankless hot water system! It’s the best thing both in getting unlimited water but also it’s cheaper to run than a tank one. I have had mine for about three years now and it’s well and truly paid for itself! I believe with the kids you won’t regret hav8ng it. Talking of the kids…the young lad who was sitting behind Ryan in the car was priceless when you said about getting toilets showers etc. He gasped and laughed in joy! So l gather he too will be happy to have these things installed too!! Looks like you are getting close to another inspection and then starting the installation of all the fittings. So exciting! I hope you all had an awesome Easter and did not over indulge in chocolate!! Take care. Big hugs for you all. Di.
