An increase in wildfires due to recorded temperatures of 48.8C is fake news. Already proven the "recorded" temperatures were ground temperatures, not air temperatures. Also proven the "wild fires" around the world were lit by Muslim invaders or organisations like ANTIFA or governments. Stop spreading propaganda for the W.E.F Globalist Communist terrorists.

Can I further specify one thing: italian law embraces grassroot initiatives within it's civil protection system and encourages them to join the authorities through municipal, regional and state lists. The so formed units will deploy along government funded emergency services in case of large emergencies. Some even appear in this video: the pickup with the text "protezione civile" on its side. Even spontaneous help is encouraged by law, however in practice, because they are lacking proper personal protection equipment (PPE) it can and will be restricted to non dangerous areas, the so called "green areas" (at least in the case of floods). Civil protection units (the aforementioned grassroot initatives) are required to have PPE of the same quality as is expected in any other professional role, this makes it very difficult to finance such organizations over the long term, even with access to public funding as firefighting gear and other safety gear often has relatively short expiration dates.

We have the volunteer bush fire service in every country town in Australia. They maintain bush tracks, called fire trails, and do winter burns to reduce undergrowth and back burn too. nothing in the way you are presenting yourselves looks safe. minimal hi-vis vests, no hardhats even when around trees, and no breathing PPE. the cancer could kill you, and a high enough dose breathed in in a shorter amount of time could result in swelling of blisters in your throat and larynx that can lead to suffocation and death. but don't just take my word for it- talk to firefighting professionals around the world. yes you can take into account considerations for effectiveness vs. budget - but don't carelessly throw your lives away. additionally- standard firefighters have a "bodyguard" device. a device that can track movements of the user, and when they stop moving for too long, it gives off an alarm to call for aid you didn't explain why this behaviour is "illegal" rather than just "volunteers", "amateur" or "supplementary". you do explain what caused the buildup of dry brush, but didn't take into account explaining how to avoid the diligent extinguishing of the fires causing an even greater buildup of dry brush and deadwood and potentially- larger infernos...

There is one thing this video got fundamentally wrong: Grassroot help in emergencies is not illegal in Italy: Italian law actually embraces grassroot initiatives within it's civil protection system and encourages them to join the authorities through municipal, regional and state lists. Civil protection units (the aforementioned grassroot initatives) are required to have PPE of the same quality as is expected in any other professional role, this makes it difficult to finance such organizations over the long term, even with access to public funding, as firefighting gear and other safety gear often has relatively short expiration dates. Also just those units that get called by local regional or national government entities will receive compensation for the expenses (fuel, food etc). What this video gets spot on is that providing proper training is difficult to organize for volunteers. Providing training may be the most effective contribution one can give, this training should involve lessons on how to access public funding and how to join the state apparatus too though.

@planet-wild
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Many fires are indeed ignited by humans - through negligence, littering, etc. But there is a reason why there aren’t many wildfires in winter. Days of temperatures over 40C dry out vegetation, fuelling bigger, more resilient wildfires. But you've got a great point - creating more awareness is indeed an important part of the equation.

Quick question, wouldn't prescribed fires help with the problem at hand? I recently read a couple studies regarding reducing wildfire danger(these are US studies so obviously the tests were made there), it would eliminate the fires at the dryest times by burning them before the dry spell picks up. Burning corridors like this would at least limit the spread of the wildfires by blacking/burning say 50-100m wide kms long strips. This has been working well in the southern states in the US that largely used to be oak savannahs.

does/did Italy have any planned burnings in the past? i know it isn't for everywhere although Venezuala and Australia both had indigenous practices of planned burning before it was taken away by colonisation. setting small fires on cool days at cool times can allow people to control where the fire goes, protecting wanted species and the fires are cool enough to keep things alive, and promote growth. they aren't as stressful as they are much MUCH easier to control it is incredibly interesting how a small patch can have regrowth yet wildfires would go right around them even in eucalyptus forests, known for the explosive nature of the leaves.

If people had the training and organized among neighbors wildfires would be much less dangerous to people. The thing is most people never bother to clear the vegetation around their property and then complain their house burnt down. At 10:00 save your water that fire is surrounded by ash, it has nowhere to spread and will burn itself out shortly. I am surprised they didn't ask for chainsaws btw

As a part of nature, wildfires do play an essential part in promoting biodiversity, but only when they occur naturally. Human activity and climate change are spurring more intense and frequent fires that contribute more emissions, feeding into a loop that worsens climate change. Wildfires are supposed to benefit certain natural landscapes, clearing underbrush in forests and triggering the release of seeds in some plant species, like some pine species.

Hi, loved your project! In the massive wildfire in Valencia, scientists discovered, that a densely planted group of cyprus trees, variety "horizontalis" can withstand fires and therefore work as an effective fire break. Their dense growth in a densely planted group creates so much evaporation, that the flames are soffocated. The dense and deep layer of needles on the ground has so little oxigen, that the fire can not penetrate the inside of the densely planted cyprus group. Only the outer rows burned. The whole center stayed green and intact.
